  A: Good question. &nbsp;The active drug in WST-057&nbsp;was never approved in the US (and thus not a generic in the US)&nbsp;but approved in other countries as a pill.   A: It was not very effective for&nbsp;its original indication, peptic ulcers. &nbsp;And not that long after, all the other ulcer drugs came out on the market (Nexium, Prilosec, etc.) -&nbsp;which were very effective. &nbsp;The originating company abandoned the product for marketing purposes. &nbsp;But over the last several decades, it has proven out to be safe without the long term concerns now surfacing with other drugs.&nbsp;
