We have spent the last 4 years researching their history, design and flight procedures in an effort to guarantee our best chance at succeeding with the reemergence of this amazing technology.","story":"It’s our philosophy that to successfully revive Lighter-than-Air technology, one must return to LTA’s roots; that period in history when it was successfully used to transport passengers and cargo across continents, oceans and around the world – long before the dominance of fixed-wing or rotor-wing aircraft. The German’s Zeppelin program of the early 1900’s represents the only successful airship program in history. Understanding their design and operational procedures is key to the future of LTA.Even today, the Graf Zeppelin is still considered the most successful airship ever built as was demonstrated in the following video of its Around-the-World Expedition in 1929.Graf Zeppelin Around-the-World Expedition 1929 - CondensedThe Global Marketplace is Growing! As the World’s population gains greater access to the global marketplace, the demand for goods and services will grow larger as well. LTA will not only capitalize on this growth, but also aid it by offering a faster more economical transportation solution without the costly requirement for ground infrastructure.Direct path access, one of LTA’s many advantages, means no bottlenecks in the supply chain. Can LTA compete with today's transportation technology ?Can the technology compete on a ton-mile per gallon basis with our current modes of transportation? We performed a comparison pitting the Hindenburg's fuel economy, using 1930's diesel engine technology, against today's top two performers - the railroad and shipping by vessel. What we discovered was game changing. A 1930's airship can not only match the railroad's fuel economy, but has the added advantage of not being confined to an indirect path encumbered with multiple stops, decelerating at population centers and lost time in switching yards, which is so inherent with today's costly railroad ground infrastructure.Additionally, rail isn’t everywhere as is seen in the following map displaying its infrastructure. This means the first and last mile of the delivery process must be accomplished by the less fuel-efficient trucking industry. This same reality is also true for shipping by vessel which is restricted by coastline. What about actual operating costs, is it still a viable technology ?With LTA, there are no grades because the buoyant force cancels the effects of gravity, and gravity more than drag has the greatest negative impact on fuel economy for all contemporary forms of transportation.Additionally, LTA requires virtually no ground infrastructure. In contrast, the US rail network is comprised of more than 140,000 miles of track and over 100,000 bridges. On average, the 7 Class I railroads in the US spend approximately $20 billion per year upgrading and maintaining their rail infrastructures and state and local governments spend more than $187 billion per year upgrading and maintaining their roads and highways.According to a 2017 report created by the ASCE, federal forecasts predict a 40% increase in US freight shipments by 2040, which will require even more infrastructure spending. The 7 Class I railroad companies have spent more than $700 billion on infrastructure alone since 1980.LTA neither requires nor is confined by costly ground infrastructure. Lighter-than-Air Technology is a \"super-green\" technology.LTA has the capability to deliver anything from anywhere to any destination - nonstop. And is not restricted by costly ground infrastructure, nor is it affected by grades, intersections or traffic congestion making it the most cost effective, fuel-efficient technology of our time.Join us in our quest to revolutionize transportation as we know it today, and free the growth of our global economy from the shackles of costly ground infrastructure.","location":"Las Vegas, NV","website":"https://www.voyagerglobal.us","total_amount_raised":54400,"total_investors":60,"is_funded":true,"is_active":true,"related_urls":["https://wefunder.com/voyager.global.inc","https://www.voyagerglobal.us"]},"media":{"share_image_url":"https://uploads.wefunder.com/uploads/company/header_media_photo/70701/xxl_cropped_5F_-_Our_Prototypes_-_JPEG.jpg","logo_url":"https://uploads.wefunder.com/uploads/company/logo/70701/large_cropped_28F_-_VG_Wefunder_Logo_Image_-_PNG.png","header_media_url":"https://uploads.wefunder.com/uploads/company/header_media_photo/70701/standard_cropped_5F_-_Our_Prototypes_-_JPEG.jpg","cover_photo_url":"https://uploads.wefunder.com/uploads/company/header_media_photo/70701/standard_cropped_5F_-_Our_Prototypes_-_JPEG.jpg"},"links":{"company_url":"https://www.voyagerglobal.us"},"highlights":[],"quick_facts":[{"index":1,"claim_id":"claim-fact-1","value":"86% of the World’s population live in developing countries, representing massive growth potential for all markets."},{"index":2,"claim_id":"claim-fact-2","value":"General Cargo is projected to grow globally beyond 6.8 Billion Metric Tons by 2025, a growth rate of 3.5% YOY."},{"index":3,"claim_id":"claim-fact-3","value":"Fuel consumption is on the rise - in 2019, the World consumed 1.2 trillion gallons of fuel!"},{"index":4,"claim_id":"claim-fact-4","value":"Of which, the US consumed more than 143 billion gallons at an estimated cost of $372 billion for the consumer."},{"index":5,"claim_id":"claim-fact-5","value":"If we assume a 40% loss of fuel economy due to grade, that equals $150 billion in unnecessary cost within the US alone."},{"index":6,"claim_id":"claim-fact-6","value":"Seeking a cheaper transportation alternative, the US Government has invested more than $1.2 billion in LTA technology."},{"index":7,"claim_id":"claim-fact-7","value":"Nonstop, direct path access with no grades allow LTA to easily outperform all other forms of transportation."},{"index":8,"claim_id":"claim-fact-8","value":"And unlike the $200 billion per year spent on roads and rails, LTA uses a free infrastructure - the Earth’s atmosphere."}],"team":[{"id":1176757,"entity_id":"wefunder:company_role:1176757","user_entity_id":"wefunder:user:1130086","role":"employee","name":"Chris Caudle","title":"Founder \u0026 CEO","bio":"As owner operator of an IT business for 10 years, I managed many projects large and small while serving the SMB market. The idea of using batteries and solar energy to provide propulsion for Lighter-than-Air technology (LTA) has been talked about for more than a decade. However, as our automotive industry has already proven, today’s battery technology is a long way from being able to provide any meaningful range capability. In addition, using solar to recharge or power an electric propulsion system is also extremely limited in capability. Solar only works if the sun is shining, and therefore has no benefit in most weather conditions or during night operations. Without an available, reliable, and proven fuel source, an airship crew could find themselves on the drift for days or even weeks over unfriendly lands.","author_name":"Chris Caudle","votes":1,"created_at":"2023-02-26T23:44:34Z"}]},{"id":320406,"entity_id":"wefunder:comment:320406","question":"It's been about 2 years since any kind of update...how are things progressing and what is being done? The only successful airship program in history was the German Zeppelin program of the early 1900s. It began with Count von Zeppelin’s idea for an airship and grew into a technology that was successfully used for 40 years. During that period, the Germans used Lighter-than-Air technology (LTA) to transport the first passengers and cargo by air across continents, oceans, and around the world, a full 20 years ahead of the aeroplane. One example of the successful use of the technology was the Graf Zeppelin, the predecessor to the Hindenburg. In 9 years of service, it safely carried more than 34,000 passengers on 590 flights while accumulating more than 17,000 flight hours. At half the size of the Hindenburg, she was the first aircraft to carry passengers and cargo around the world by air. At the time, this was an amazing achievement given that she was filled with hydrogen, a very flammable gas, equipped with 1920s diesel engine technology with wooden propellers, and used dead reckoning to navigate the skies over places never before visited by man. The German Zeppelin program had a promising future, but the ambitions of Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party drew the world into the throes of World War II. Due to the need for resources, Hitler made the decision to cancel the airship program and recycle those materials for the war effort. By the time the war was over, Germany’s cities and economy lay in ruins. From this point forward, the German Zeppelin became a technology frozen in time. The short answer is no! There were many unfortunate events that led to the termination of the German Zeppelin airship program. Prior to the Hindenburg fire in 1937, the Nazi party had been on the rise in Germany and had taken control of its government. Hitler was very busy building the German war machine for its invasion of Poland in 1939, which would eventually cause France to declare war on Germany that same year. During this period, both the Hindenburg and Graf Zeppelin airships were used for propaganda missions throughout Germany, against the wishes of the German Zeppelin Company’s leadership and most of its employees. When the Hindenburg was later destroyed by fire, Hitler and the Nazi Party decided the airship program was of no value to them in their war effort. This led to the cancellation of the airship program in Germany and the subsequent dismantling of all remaining airships and airship hangars. All the materials were recycled for the war effort. When the war finally ended in 1945, Germany and her economy lay in complete ruin. It took decades for the country to recover. As a result, the German airship program became \"frozen in time\". It should be known that the German people took great pride in their airship program and saw a great future for the technology. It was and still is a fully German technology and had been used during peace time to successfully transport the first passengers and cargo by air across continents, oceans, and around the world, a full 20 years before the aeroplane could accomplish the same feats. We have a video presentation on the “Pitch Deck” page of our website at https://voyagerglobal.us, entitled “Lighter-than-Air: A technology frozen in time.” Please take a look, as it goes into greater detail on this subject.","author_name":"Chris Caudle","votes":1,"created_at":"2023-02-27T22:51:32Z"}]},{"id":236510,"entity_id":"wefunder:comment:236510","question":"We use buoyancy to transport goods from China to the US and other countries; are you saying Lighter-than-Air technology can do the same thing?","author_name":"Terry Gardener","votes":0,"created_at":"2023-02-27T18:07:33Z","canonical_url":"https://wefunder.com/voyager.global.inc#question-236510","answers":[{"id":236513,"entity_id":"wefunder:comment:236513","answer":"Terry, thanks for the question! It’s always interesting to see the reaction I get when discussing the merits of Lighter-than-Air technology (LTA). Using buoyancy to transport people and cargo by air seems like such a foreign concept to some people. My position is that if we are willing to accept the benefits of buoyancy with respect to water, then we should be willing to accept those same benefits when discussing buoyancy in the Earth’s atmosphere. To answer your question more directly, yes, LTA can not only transport goods using buoyancy, but unlike shipping by vessel, it isn’t restricted by coastline. The Earth’s atmosphere provides unobstructed, direct access to all geographic locations. This reality provides LTA with a time and fuel efficiency advantage not shared by any other form of contemporary transportation.","author_name":"Chris Caudle","votes":1,"created_at":"2023-02-27T18:26:32Z"}]},{"id":236260,"entity_id":"wefunder:comment:236260","question":"How fuel efficient is Lighter-than-Air technology in comparison to other forms of transportation?","author_name":"Nice Marie Roush","votes":0,"created_at":"2023-02-24T23:12:11Z","canonical_url":"https://wefunder.com/voyager.global.inc#question-236260","answers":[{"id":236262,"entity_id":"wefunder:comment:236262","answer":"Nice, thanks for your question. Lighter-than-Air technology (LTA) has inherent efficiency advantages over all other forms of transportation. We will list two of the advantages that also function as concepts: • Direct Path Access All contemporary forms of transportation are enslaved by a ground-based transportation infrastructure. As a result, there is no direct path from A to B. Constant stops and starts, deceleration followed by acceleration due to traffic congestion, and the requirement to follow an indirect path from the point of origination to the destination all contribute significantly to the global consumption of fuel. LTA is more efficient in both fuel and time consumption because it uses a free and open transportation infrastructure - the Earth’s atmosphere. • Weightless Cargo At least 50% of all fuel consumption is due to the struggle with gravity on the slope or grade. As an example, just a 1% increase in grade requires 4 times more power, and more power means greater fuel consumption. Because buoyancy counters the effects of gravity, there are no grades with LTA. This reality provides LTA with an additional fuel and time efficiency advantage over all other forms of transportation. Taking the discussion further, in 2019, the world consumed 1.2 trillion gallons of fuel. Imagine being able to reduce that consumption by as much as 50% by simply taking advantage of the concepts of direct path access and weightless cargo. Currently, we are working with a 5-year plan that includes the following primary goals: • Complete the 3D design • Secure a build location • Raise the capital for the build of our design • Complete the build • Complete the flight tests • Get FAA certification • Complete our scheduled humanitarian aid missions As you are aware, a startup’s share value increases each time they meet a goal on their way to market. The greatest and most valuable achievement will be the final goal, as the completion of the HA missions will result in not only demonstrating the capabilities and efficiencies of Lighter-than-Air technology but also attracting global media coverage. This will no doubt get the attention of corporate entities who could benefit from the technology. I will email you with further information as you requested.","author_name":"Chris Caudle","votes":0,"created_at":"2023-02-24T21:47:49Z"}]},{"id":212101,"entity_id":"wefunder:comment:212101","question":"Could the payload of your LTA aircraft be comparable to the payload of cargo ships?","author_name":"Matthew Henry Doukakis","votes":0,"created_at":"2022-07-20T02:50:50Z","canonical_url":"https://wefunder.com/voyager.global.inc#question-212101","answers":[{"id":212251,"entity_id":"wefunder:comment:212251","answer":"Matthew, Thank you for your question. Although in a slightly different form, it’s very common and one that I’ve often been asked. The OOCL Hong Kong, one of the World’s largest container ships, has a maximum capacity of 21,413 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit). If all of the TEU containers were filled to capacity, that would be approximately 1.4 billion pounds of cargo. Of course, the OOCL Hong Kong, although having the capacity to carry 21,413 TEUs, does not have the capacity to carry that much cargo. Most of the containers shipped today are far below their max capacity of either weight or volume. As you are probably aware, all of this math is handled by logistics with the crew of the ship having the final decision on what’s loaded and where. When a customer pays to ship a product, they are also paying to ship all the deadweight associated with shipping that product – i.e. the weight of the TEU (5 tons), the shared weight of the container ship (approximately 4 tons per TEU), crating, boxing, etc.. All of this cost is passed down to the customer. A large part of this cost is fuel, with the OOCL Hong Kong alone consuming 322 tons of fuel per day! There are plans in the future to build container ships as large as 50,000 TEUs. The thinking is it’s cheaper to move more containers in one shipment than smaller numbers more frequently. It may be cheaper for the shipping company, but far more expensive for the customer. For the customer, it’s not just about the shipping cost, it’s also about spending billions of dollars to upgrade the world’s ports and transportation infrastructure to handle vessels of that size – of more than 150 ports globally, only a handful can handle ships like the OOCL Hong Kong. Just 20 years ago, the container ships were much smaller with a 1500 TEU capacity considered large. Today, there are over 5,000 container ships worldwide of various sizes servicing the shipping industry and the world’s 150 ports. The real question is, can Lighter-than-Air technology compete with shipping by vessel and can it be profitable no matter the payload size? After all, at the end of the day it’s about making a profit. The answer to this question is a resounding “YES”. Here’s why: • LTA isn’t restricted by the boundaries of land or sea. • It has the advantage of direct path access. • It has the capability to deliver products directly from the manufacturer to the reseller. • The deadweight requirement is far less than shipping by vessel. • LTA has a better fuel efficiency. • It doesn’t require an extensive ground infrastructure. • The list goes on.. The future availability of Helium is a common question especially given the media’s narrative of a looming shortage. This is by design, as it serves to drive up the cost of He on the global market. But the truth of the matter is far different, hence the reason we created a video presentation that addresses this specific issue. It’s available on our “Pitch Deck” page and is entitled: • “The Future of Helium” Please have a look as it gets into greater detail. But for now, I’ll be happy to expose the reality of the matter of He. In the 1970’s, the media (quoting experts of course) predicted we would run out of oil within the next 20 years. Obviously, that didn’t happen. As a matter of fact, in 2019 alone, the world consumed over 1.4 trillion gallons of fuel! And the demand for fuel is only going to continue to increase, as the other 84% of the world’s population living in developing countries moves up the ladder of civilization. The truth of the matter is that Helium is one of the most abundant resources in the universe - It’s also plenteous on our planet. Until the last ten years or so, it was only a byproduct of drilling – occasionally captured and stored. But because it is becoming a more valuable commodity, entrepreneurs worldwide are developing new methods of finding, extracting and storing the gas. In the future, He will be a commodity that’s traded openly on the global market in the same manner as oil. As for the cost of Helium, think of it in the same manner as oil. An increasing price serves as the inspiration for entrepreneurs to invest in its availability. This is the capitalistic way - find a need, fill the need, make a profit! For the last part of your question, every generation seems to share the common “we have arrived” mindset. In the 1920’s, we in America thought we had reached the pinnacle of civilization. But, look at where we are today! Fortunately, today’s technological advancement is only a temporary destination on our journey to greater things. In the future, we may either discover or create a lift gas that is superior to both Helium and Hydrogen. Additionally, we may eventually realize what gravity actually is and develop a method of opposing its influence. For more details about Helium, please see the video presentation on our “Pitch Deck” page entitled: • “The Future of Helium” And please check out our video presentations listed in the “Concepts” section of our “Pitch Deck” page. I will try to keep my answer short and to the point. When I started this journey, I knew I needed to learn from those who were successful, and equally important, why everyone else had failed. The German Zeppelin program still remains the only successful airship program in history. In the 1900’s, only the German Zeppelin program succeeded while all others failed – why? In the 85 years since the Hindenburg fire, there’s been an innumerable number of private and public entities try to revive LTA, but all have failed – why? The answer to both questions is the same, and may surprise you because of its simplicity. We have a saying that’s the basis for our answer: “Children always think they’re smarter and wiser than their parents”. Count von Zeppelin, Dr. Durr, Hugo Eckener and the thousands of people who worked for the German Zeppelin Company literally “lived” the LTA technology. They developed their design from scratch, improved it over time by testing it in real world situations, while simultaneously increasing their operational skill using the technology. Everyone else in the 1900’s took the shortcut of trying to copy the design with little or no experience with the technology itself. In the case of the Akron and Macon (1931 – 1935), the leader of the German design team deviated from the proven Zeppelin design in no less than 8 significant ways. These changes led to the demise of both airships after only 2 years of service respectively. In the time since the Hindenburg fire, those who wished to revive the technology have taken an even more egregious stance – they completely ignore the success of the German Zeppelin Company and setoff on a mission to “reinvent” the technology altogether. They have convinced themselves the early design and technology in general are antiquated by today’s standards. After all, we are flying around the world at 30,000 feet at breakneck speeds and have computers, the internet, modern communication devices, etc. Never mind that we struggle to explain how our ancestors built the pyramids, Lol. Our philosophy, is to begin where the success with the technology ended by taking the German Zeppelin Company’s most advanced design (LZ-129 and LZ-130), bringing it into the 21st century using modern build materials, advanced 3D design and modern manufacturing to build a stronger, lighter, more capable airship, while simultaneously learning from their operational experience. This is the most logical path for success. It is our position that the German Zeppelin Company’s design and version of LTA are not antiquated by today’s standards, because they were decades ahead of their time. Thank you for supporting our project. Together we stand on the shoulders of giants and reach for the stars!","author_name":"Chris Caudle","votes":2,"created_at":"2022-05-10T18:43:49Z"}]}],"faq":[{"question":"What are you going to do in order to avoid the issues that plagued all other LTA companies? 20+ years ago I was an early investor in the German Cargolifter that went belly up because the put the cart before the horse.","answer":"Thomas, thank you for your question – it’s a good one!
