SAN FRANCISCO — The University of San Francisco's tennis program completed its 10th annual Battle in the Bay Classic Tournament, welcoming top collegiate tennis teams from across the country held at the California Tennis Club Friday, September 21 to Sunday, September 23. Palmia - Clara de Espana was happy to be this years beer sponsor, while the guests enjoyed a cold Palmia beer as the sun was shining and temperatures were perfect for the event. A Pro-Am was played on Wednesday where the CEO - Robert Nathanson partnered up with  true freshman at USF taking on three other teams and went two for two!

This year the San Francisco's men's tennis program went head to head with No. 1 Wake Forest, No. 15 Texas, and Fresno State as the returning teams are No. 4 Stanford, No. 7 TCU, No. 12 USC, No. 18 Georgia, California, San Diego State, UC Santa Barbara, and West Coast Conference foes San Diego and Pacific.

"All players are playing for valuable men's main draw wild cards at the Tiburon Challenger and Fairfield Challenger. Both tournaments are $100,000 ATP Tour events. We could not make this happen without Steve Jackson and the California Tennis Club who's members and staff help with every aspect of this great event," said Head Coach Pablo Pires de Ameida." For our guys it's a true test to play at the highest level. We welcome the challenge and love playing on our home courts at the CTC. It's amazing to see so many people cheering on the Dons and the other great teams," said Pires de Ameida.

The women's field is comprised of six California schools including USC, Fresno State, Sacramento State and WCC opponents Pepperdine, University of Pacific and Santa Clara. There is a 16-player draw in singles and eight person draw in doubles as the Dons will be eyeing a wild card position into the $60,000 Stockton Challenger event for the winner of the singles draw.
