Invest in Revitalization of Historic Bronzeville - LAST CHANCE

One century ago, hundreds of thousands of African Americans came to Chicago in search of the Promised Land.  They settled in a narrow strip of land on Chicago’s South Side and defied northern racism to create a Black Metropolis, a "city within a city” with vibrancy, creativity, and opportunity second to none.

That Metropolis gave America modern gospel, electrified blues, AfriCOBRA, Ebony Magazine, a politics that made the way for America’s first Black President, and so much more.

Decades of disinvestment, Civil Rights era chaos, ongoing redlining, and the Great Recession conspired to knock down the Metropolis, resulting in the loss of three quarters of its population and virtually all of its commerce by the turn of the 21st century.

Today, we’re working to bring it back.

With your help, we will rebuild this historic community from the inside out.

We will use deeply-rooted community assets - our history, our cuisine, our music and the arts, and, most important, our people - to re-capture the Promise of Bronzeville, a vibrant community where rich and poor live and work together, where youth find challenge and opportunity, and where Chicago finds its Soul.

Thank you.
