Jessica Contreras, CEO of Fuego Fino, Inc., gains the support of powerhouse sustainable company URB-E, who recently raised $5M to create a carbon-free delivery zone in Tucson, AZ.

“We just launched an ambitious project to create a carbon-free delivery zone in Tucson, Arizona, and I am excited to announce that URB-E has pledged their support. It is no secret that the team over at URB-E has been bold about putting the environment first. Their e-bikes with collapsible container trailers allow us to deliver using a carbon-free method, and the boxes become a storage solution for the delivery of goods using other electrical vehicles. Because they are portable and can be easily loaded into larger vehicles if needed, without having to transfer goods, we have a seamless inventory management solution,” says Jessica Contreras, CEO of Fuego Fino.

ABOUT URB-E

“URB-E’s compact delivery containers give nearly any company a way to transport their goods the last mile while avoiding traffic hangups and pumping carbon emissions into the air,” said Charles Jolley, CEO of URB-E. “What’s more, our containers have a stable suspension trailer system that is designed to deliver fragile products such as glass bottles (filled or empty), making this a perfect solution for companies like Feugo Fino. We’re excited to join them in the eco-conscious community.” URB-E is a compact container delivery network, replacing trucks with small electric vehicles designed for every neighborhood. You can see URB-E’s electric-powered, collapsible containers around New York and other urban locations, enabling fast, clean, last-mile delivery for major retailers and e-commerce companies.

URB-E’s containers replace an entire delivery van, reducing emissions by 100% and doubling or tripling delivery efficiency. A single rider can move over 800 pounds of goods through city streets faster and more sustainably than traditional delivery trucks. The containers also save a massive amount of space in crowded urban environments, with 20 folded containers fitting into a single parking space.

URB-E is venture-funded, backed by UBS Group, and headquartered in Los Angeles.

ABOUT THE ECOSOLX PROJECT

The name reflects its meaning: “Eco” is the English reference to environmentally-friendly operations, and the Spanish word “sol” (“sun” in English) references the company’s ambitions to power its operations using the sun. “X” refers to creating an area where carbon is “X-ed” out of emissions.

This project was launched when Fuego Fino purchased a property between highway I-10 and one of the area's most visited outdoor attractions: The Loop — a 131-mile bike pathway frequented by thousands of cyclists each week. The parcel sits on .44 acres of raw land, is located within four miles of the University of Arizona campus, and is designated as a Qualified Opportunity Zone (QOZ) as well as a New Market Tax Credit region. Fuego Fino structured this transaction so that the property is held within a single-asset Limited Liability Company, ECOSOLX LLC, in an effort to maximize positioning and protection for its investors.

Fuego Fino plans to build a storage facility that maximizes efficiency by constructing upwards rather than across a large swath of land. It also plans to take advantage of the site's solar rating of 92 by installing a system of panels and batteries so that the building can eventually unplug from the electric grid and operate under its own resources for a period of time.

The secondary goal is to operate a charging station for electric delivery vehicles, which Jessica Contreras, CEO, hopes will become the backbone of a carbon-free delivery zone in Tucson, Arizona.
