As women founders, we are familiar with the challenges that women face in business, from gender biases in the form of questions about personal circumstances (e.g. "Do you have or intend to have children?") to glaring gender inequalities like access to capital.

Here are the facts:

  • Women represent 40% of entrepreneurs in the US (Fundera, 2020).
  • In 2019, women received a record amount of startup capital: 2.8% of total startup investment. When combined investment in female-founded and mixed co-founded companies was included, the total startup investment amounted to 9% (Crunchbase, 2020).
  • In a study of over 350 startups, Mass Challenge and BCG determined that businesses founded by women deliver higher revenue—more than 2 times as much per dollar invested—than those founded by men, making women-owned companies better investments for financial backers (BCG, 2018).
  • Statistics demonstrate that women-led companies tend to outperform those that are founded by men (Forbes, 2019).

Of the 165 investment opportunities currently active on WeFunder, 8 have women founders. Founded and led by women, we're proud to be one of these companies.

Thank you, Investors!
