Hey DIVERTfam! 

We hope everyone has had a safe, happy and healthy holiday season. As the year comes to a close, it is obviously a time to reflect on the year behind us (hopefully not for too long) and look forward to the year ahead. Looking through the lens of Action Sports, the world took a few tumbles, slams and falls last year. That’s just part of it. Now it’s time to get back up up, dust ourselves off as a collective community, learn the valuable lessons that our falls have taught us, and get back after it so we can stomp 2021!!

It has been a wild year for us at DIVERT as we looked to completely revamp our program to be outdoors, and COVID friendly. We had no idea how the community would react, and you showed up and supported us during a very strange time in history. We have said it before, and we will say it an hundred more times, because you deserve it… THANK YOU DIVERTFAM!! WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU AND YOUR SUPPORT!!

We wanted to give everyone an update and an invitation so you can stay lock-step with everything going on with your investment! These updates have been posted on our WeFunder page, so please make sure to follow the updates there as well to get them in real time! We will plan to post more live updates via email as well as we get closer to the launch date!

IMPACT OF COVID

We want to address the elephant in the room head on. COVID has creeped back into our lives and has caused shutdowns across the country again. No matter how COVID safe this park is, if the country is in lock down we will face opening and operating limitations from a government restriction perspective. Here's the good news... we saw this second wave coming. 

Back in June we had to make the decision to push our launch date to Spring 2021, when what we wanted to do was launch in November, 2020. We did our homework, researched previous pandemics and stuck with the data. They all showed the likelihood of a second wave that we are experiencing now, and so we pushed out pop-up to avoid this second wave. Based on the data, Spring 2021 is when the second wave of the pandemic would be reduced to safe levels for outdoor and indoor operations to begin again. 

After a second lock down, people will be even more excited to get out of their houses, and start doing activities as a community again. DIVERT is positioned to offer up a sense of hope and normalcy that people can return to safely and confidently. 

While the vaccine still has to be proven and produced, Spring 2021 gives additional time for the vaccine to be made widely available before or shortly after we begin operations, giving consumers and operators an additional layer of comfort! 

Lastly, we worked with LA County to get our operation COVID Certified by going through their online training and certification! This certification gives DIVERT and others that go through this program priority in re-opening and additional comfort to the county, and guests! You can see our certification below!

All in all, the impact that this second waves has on our development schedule currently is minimal, because we had planned for this to take place. Should that change, and the pandemic continues with lockdowns and delays, we are putting together a contingency plan for alternative launch dates and sites that give us flexibility with our current budget and timeline. 

Rest confidently, that should we need to initiate any of those contingency plans, we will let you know. For now, we are staying the course we already laid out, with this second wave as a key part of the strategic decision making process. We have some other, more exciting things to update you on.

DIVERT DEVELOPMENT UPDATES

As a result of the dynamic timelines, our executive team has separated our budget into two critical buckets. One: budget items that we will need to spend independent of project launch date and COVID restrictions. Two: Project expenses that will only be spent when the project has a full green light from the City, County and State to launch and operate post this second wave.

All expenses in category one, we are pushing on to ensure they are to the start line, and will not create delays or dependencies down the road. This includes items like the development of the DIVERT App, the website development, the POS Platform set-up, content creation for marketing, and more. All of these assets that we can develop now, will serve the project no matter the launch date.

The second category of expenses are the "Launch" expenses. These expenses are things like the lease payments, payments to vendors for on-site equipment, soft opening expenses, permitting expenses, employee on-boarding and training etc. These expenses represent ~$415k of our total budget, and this budget will not be touched until we have secured the green light and permits form the City, County and State.

With that as the strategy, we would love to share some updates on the items that we are developing so you can feel looped in on the progress and involved in your investment.

DIVERTAPP: We have selected an app developer for our DIVERT app and we are taking an innovative NoCode approach to development which means quick development time and much lower investment than a native app. 

This app will be central to the DIVERT experience and it focuses around personal progression and biggest trick content challenges that DIVERT guests and users submit from the park and at home. It will give us a touch point with our guests before the park is open and be a major engagement tool and value add to the experience once the park goes live!

Once the park is launched, the app will encourage guests to come back to the park over and over again with prizes for challenges completed on-site and more! On the flip side, guests that come to the park represent a built in active user base to get the app up, running and active with users from the beginning. We will look to launch the app with only the feed and challenges sections of this prototype to start. Once we get traction, we will introduce additional features like additional challenges, ticketing, merchandise, and more!

DIVERTSESSIONS WEBSITE: We have some initial designs and layouts for the website! The website will be the hub for the DIVERTstory, ticket sales, event info, brand partnership intro's, FAQ's and more! BE AWARE, as an investor, you get a look at our development while it is IN PROGRESS. We are currently working on the layout and design and have not gotten to updating the copy and content so do not worry about commenting on that portion of the site just yet.
