Kingmakers Ops' First Acquisition - 2 months in

founder @ Kingmakers Ops

All,

It's been a wild few months at Kingmakers.

Our team has been extremely busy improving the operations of our first acquisition (a plumbing company in Montana) and hunting for our next deal.

I'd like to provide a few of the most interesting details below:

  • The business closed at the end of September
  • When we got to the business, we saw first hand that the business was turning down significant amounts of work due to staffing shortages
  • Our general manager (and resident superhero) Quinn Huffman stepped into streamline operations - which led to a 20% increase in bookings over the first 60 days....without any increase to the staffing
  • In addition, we have been aggressively interviewing new candidates to bring on as both junior level and senior level plumbers (though the need is currently for more senior level staff)
  • We have a pipeline of 3 excellent candidates, of which we expect 2 to join the firm in January (which should add another $200-$300k in EBITDA in 2021
  • We have also had significant success with the marketing side of the business
  • We optimized the company's online presence (yelp, google, etc) and also started some major efforts around search engine optimization (the traffic the site gets from Google and other search engines)
  • With less than 1 month of effort, the visits to the website have increased by 84% - and we expect even bigger jumps in the new year.  Here's a quick image that shows tha recent results:

Overall, we're delighted with the performance of the business and our team.

We look forward to having you all along for the ride - and hope you all have a fantastic holiday season.
