New York, NY: Makeba, the fintech company democratizing digital wallets and digital payments in the African continent, announced today that it will be rolling out applications and services in Nigeria. After being granted an IMTO license by the Central Bank of Nigeria on October 13, 2020, Makeba will be able to roll-out the model that has successfully been rolled in the Cape Verde islands for payroll and tax payments and also for the disbursement of pension funds as a measure to implement the digitization of government programs, a very important strategy in the control of the spread of COVID-19 with vulnerable populations.

As a first step, Makeba will work in the Nigerian State of Kaduna, a state with a population of six million, to establish a collaboration by which Makeba services will be utilized by the State of Kaduna for tax collection and by Kaduna's businesses and citizens as a financial inclusion tool and solution to enter the digital economy, particularly via peer to peer transfers, mobile payments and point of sale service for merchants.

“We are thrilled to be working in the State of Kaduna,” says Yamandou Alexander, CEO at Makeba. “The pandemic has made the need for lightning-fast and contactless payments more important than ever, to help local economies, not only in recovery but in tackling economic inequality.”

Makeba has launched an Equity Crowdfunding offering through WeFunder.com

The new funding will be used for the

regional expansion of the Makeba solution. Interested participants can view the Makeba investment opportunity at www.Wefunder.com/Makeba
