John Overstreet is Vice President of Engineering at Communications & Power Industries (CPI). He is now helping to integrate the engineers of the many divisions of CPI into one unified whole: designing amplifiers, antennas, and systems for satellite communications and medical applications. He’s also winemaker and co-owner of Villa del Monte Winery in the Summit area of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
What got him hooked on Aptera? John was one of the original fans of Aptera. Having heard about the company in 2009, he flew from his home in the Santa Cruz Mountains to meet Aptera's founder Steve Fambro at a Chamber of Commerce awards banquet. He talked his way into a seat at the same table and wound up going for a ride in the prototype later that night. He’s been driving electric since 2011 and says he is never going back.
"Aptera has the potential for changing the way people look at cars, not seeing them as a slab or a refrigerator on its side shoving its way down the road...but more like an airplane without wings. Aptera has the opportunity for shifting perception and therefore has places to go and grow.”
So what inspires him about Aptera? John is interested in doing modifications to turn Aptera into a farm vehicle on his family farm in East Georgia. Solar-powered crops, now that’s a green idea we can get behind!

Would be really interesting to see what ideas he has in mind for turning this into a farm vehicle
Great story. Thank you for being a part of the family, John.

Thanks for your ᕙ(▀̿̿Ĺ̯̿̿▀̿ ̿) ᕗsupport John!
I too got hooked in 2009, validated further by a ride at a roadshow back then on the east coast. Now, with the better times for EVs, and the latest efficiency and technology of the new Aptera, my faith is even deeper. Look forward to reading more about you realizing your dreams on the family farm with Aptera.
Our dreams are realized daily in a 20,000acre high mountain desert ranch community in the SW now , but plan to re-explore this great country with an Aptera
Good info. It feels good to be in the company of such great motivators.
Thanks for all the support John, great to have you as one of the team of folks helping propel the Aptera into the market. If you are looking for fabrication help with your farm conversion, let me know, I am a fabricator of pioneering solar and EV things and would be happy to help!
”Something nice.”
@johnboverstreet Thanks again for supporting Aptera!
