Production in the Time of Covid: Tim Heidecker's 'Fear of Death'

Since COVID-19 shut down the film industry in March, there's been a lot of discussion about what steps need to be taken for the safe return of production. On June 12th, Los Angeles declared its industry re-opened, with new recommendations in place for handling Covid in the workplace.

Trying to understand all the ways that Covid affects the film industry and production modalities has been confusing. On one hand, it's a giant bummer; the way we like to make movies (out in the world, interacting with real environments) has been threatened.  On the other hand, it's an opportunity to remind ourselves why we make movies in the first place.

For Snake Oil Song, since we cannot yet move forward with production in South America, we are still on hold. But we're taking this opportunity to learn about the new production challenges that Covid poses and how to solve them. We will be prepared when the time comes.

And with that, I wanted to share my first successful production under Covid, a music video shot on 16mm for Tim Heidecker. Thanks for bearing with us.
