Back To Space

Countdown to Launch

It has been far too long since we have launched people into space from American soil on an American built spacecraft. That is about to change with Elon Musk's SpaceX Crew Dragon. After Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and the Shuttle, it will be the 5th American vehicle to take humans into space.  Unfortunately, the Wednesday May 27 launch was rescheduled to Saturday due to weather

At Back To Space, we have a special link and significance with each of the first four space vehicles that have launched Americans into space. The first Mercury mission was manned by Alan Shepard, who later commanded Apollo 14. Our very own Danielle Roosa is the grand daughter of Al Shepard's Command Module Pilot Stuart Roosa on that mission to the Moon. Back To Space, and some of our friends and investors will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of that mission in January. As a WeFunder investor, you could join us...

John Young and Gus Grissom flew on the first Gemini Mission. Young would later fly to the Moon on Apollo 16. Young's Lunar Module pilot was Back To Space advisor and friend: Charlie Duke. Everyone who has had the privilege of meeting Duke will attest to what an extraordinary individual he is. We plan to support the 50th Anniversary of Duke's mission in two years. You could join us for that!

The first Apollo mission was crewed by Wally Schirra, Donn Eisele and Walt Cunningham. Walt is one of the most amazing men I have ever known, and is an advisor and friend to Back To Space. Our friends and investors joined us as Back To Space had the privilege of hosting the 50th anniversary of Walt's mission in October 2018.  We expect that Walt will be joining us at many of the upcoming Back To Space events.

The first Shuttle mission was crewed by Bob Crippen and John Young. Young is in fact the only person to have participated as "the first" on two platforms - Gemini and the Shuttle.

And now, weather permitting, Crew Dragon flies on Saturday, May 30th!

For those interested the coolest things that are happening in Space today, you still have time to join us at Back To Space. Many of our investors will get to meet some of the living legends of the Apollo program at the Lunar Landscape ribbon cutting or the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 14 and Apollo 16.
