It’s time to celebrate!
As of this morning, our campaign has raised $150,000. I would like to thank all our investors for showing your support. The first few weeks of a campaign are nail-biting, and the whole World Tree team watches the page to see the progress. When we broke through $150,000 we all raised our coffee cups with big smiles on our faces.
Last week I was in Colorado for a conference on Socially Responsible Investing. I was very proud that World Tree was nominated the most inspiring new venture. However, actions speak louder than words, and it’s your support that makes all of this possible. Here’s the kind of impact that is now possible:
$150,000 = 60 acres of Empress trees planted
60 acres = 6,600 Empress trees in the ground
6,600 Empress trees planted = 5,400 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide absorbed from the atmosphere per year!
5,400 metrics tonnes per year = 54,000 metric tonnes of CO2 absorbed from the atmosphere over the first 10 year harvest cycle
This is incredible. Here’s what this really means to you, our planet, and our future generations:
That’s 11,465 passenger vehicles taken off of the road for a year
That’s 6,466 homes’ energy use for a year
That’s 18,835 tonnes of waste recycled instead of landfilled
And, this one is my favorite..
That’s the equivalent of 438 acres of US forests being preserved from conversion to cropland for a year
With the alarming rate at which we’re losing forests due to extreme fires, and clear cutting for development, it is more important than ever to find ways to preserve our existing trees.
Empress trees are vital to this preservation. They improve the quality of our soil after being planted on fallow land. They can be used as our regenerative lumber resource as opposed to our old growth forests and they grow back from the stump. This means we can protect our current forest population, continue to benefit from the properties of the wood and keep absorbing carbon from our atmosphere.

A reminder that our first official milestone on Wefunder is $250,000 and we’re getting closer every day. Also, our early bird pricing is in effect for the first $2.5 million sold. If you invest before that mark you’ll get to take advantage: $2,500/acre. After that, it will be $3,000/acre.
