It's been a little over five months since Round 4 (our largest yet, with 8,000 investors!) SOLD OUT. Since then, we've been pushing forward with a steady drumbeat of new developments:

  • In February, we worked with Kevin Smith's team to give priority to Legion M investors applying as extras in the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and had many on set for filming in New Orleans. We also gave away two free set-visits to lucky Legion M investors (and their guests). When they got there, Kevin Smith surprised them with a walk-on role in the film!
  • In March we opened a Kickstarter campaign for a Girl With No Name comic book. We set our goal at $6,000 which is about the average amount raised for a comic book on Kickstarter. Six weeks later the campaign ended with over $130,000 worth of presales--an unheard of amount for a comic book without an existing IP or fanbase. This not only provides revenue for the company, but also demonstrates traction in the marketplace as we package the movie.
  • In April we announced a partnership with Screen Media to purchase the North American distribution rights for Memory: The Origin of Alien a documentary that premiered at Sundance and was selected using data from thousands of Legion M members/investors on the SCOUT platform (read more on Forbes).
  • In June we partnered with Fox Searchlight (a division of Disney) for the release of Tolkien, a biopic about the early experiences and influences that shaped author JRR Tolkien prior to The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. Legion M promoted the film in exchange for revenue, co-marketing, and exclusives for our members including a free screening with George R.R. Martin in Santa Fe, limited edition meetup pins, and hundreds of free tickets for Legion M investors to attend red carpet premieres in Hollywood and London.
  • Later that month we hired a new VP of Merchandising and Licensing to help build our burgeoning merch business, starting with a slew of new Legion M products and a license for Jay and Silent Bob merchandise in the Legion M store.
  • In July we announced that the Legion M community had surpassed 100,000 fans, and unveiled a partnership with Pop Insider to present the "Legion M Fan Lounge" at Comic Com along with a schedule jam packed with screenings and celebrity events.

Today we're pleased to announce that our fifth round of equity crowdfunding is officially open at www.wefunder.com/legionm. We couldn't be more excited to welcome a whole new batch of investors to our community and continue our exponential growth as we march towards our long term goal of 1 million shareholders!

ONWARD AND UPWARD!
