Pratt Standard Cocktail Co.

In the home stretch! (and some exciting news)

We're in the final 36 hours of our campaign. Thanks to all our investors for their support thus far in making connections for us, advising us, and making this campaign a success. We're a full $30,000 over our goal! If you know anyone who wanted to invest but has not yet, tell them to invest now or forever hold their money in a boring 401K.

We have been shifting our focus to what's next- using the investment funding to grow this business. Our first two orders of business will be to hire sales staff and build an advisory board. If you know anyone who might be good for our advisory board (experience in CPG, ideally F&B), please connect them with Tory at [email protected]. If you know a store near you that you think should sell our products, send us the name of the store!

We have a few updates for our investors and followers below:

  • We're working on a deal with Whole Foods to feature our syrups in their new bar programs in the mid-Atlantic, starting with a new store opening in Tysons, Virginia in October. This is in the early stages, but we're excited about the potential for promotion and retail through this channel.
  • Our private cocktail classes and events have been ramping up- we now do 3-4 cocktail classes and private events a week, which give us a great opportunity to boost revenue while creating super-users of our products. Many small food businesses pay for the opportunity to demo their products, but we've found this is a great, paid way to demo and promote the products.
  • If you invested $500 or more, you have some physical perks that we need to ship to you so you can get shaking! If you haven't already, fill out this form and we'll get your perks shipped out to you ASAP.

Finally, here's a recipe for a great, refreshing summer cocktail, The Gin Rickey:

It's the only cocktail that can call DC its birthplace. Every July is Rickey month in DC, so you'll find variations on menus across DC, but very few people actually make this cocktail the way it was originally made- with no syrup to sweeten it at all. Adding the spent lime halves is critical to this recipe- don't skip it. The lime oil makes the cocktail taste sweeter than it is, and balances the harshness of the lime juice.

  • 2oz gin
  • 1oz lime juice
  • spent half shell/s of the lime
  • 3oz seltzer or club soda

In a collins glass, add the lime juice and the spent lime shells to the bottom of the glass. Add ice on top, add the gin, and then add the seltzer. Give it a nice stir, keeping the lime shells trapped under the ice (so they don't smack you in the face while drinking the cocktail). If you want it a little sweeter, add .5oz of any of our syrups (the grenadine works especially well) and stir. Enjoy on a porch somewhere in the sweltering summer heat.
