Commercial space telescopes

## Elevator pitch
We are designing and building the first commercial space telescope for astronomy and Earth observation. This satellite will generate significant revenue as soon as it is launched, addressing both the astronomical and Earth observation markets. We plan to build and launch many more satellites for these markets as well as other markets.

## Quick facts
- We have designed an advanced space telescope system that is immediately commercially viable and can be the first in a constellation of space telescopes for astronomy and high-resolution Earth observation.
- We have patent pending technology for an ion engine accelerator that multiplies ion engine thrust and efficiency.
- We’re working with corporate partners to design and build critical optical and mechanical components. We also have an agreement with a corporate partner to provide the launch of our first space telescope satellite in 2019.
- We have established a relationship with a major university partner for a funding program which should result in enough customers to reach full telescope time capacity of our first satellite.

## FAQ
1. **Hi SpaceFab team, it looks like a great business and very excited about you guys are doing in the private space sector. Just curious, what are your thoughts on choosing crowdfunding as one of your funding sources? The concept is not very easy to understand compared to other in...**
 - We are definitely traveling a different path than a typical high tech startup, but we have been encouraged by the response so far. We feel that there is a lot of interest in innovative New Space startups, not just in the U.S. but worldwide, and we'd like to give space enthusiasts an opportunity to participate at the earliest stage. Being a pioneer in using crowdfund investing for New Space also enhances our story as we publicize our company and add investors, customers, and supporters. Thank ...
2. **Truly fascinating. I really like you and your team's backgrounds - very relevant and top notch. I know that this one is high risk/high reward, but I still would like to know: 1. Is it really true that this raise plus 2-3 million dollars in a subsequent round will be enough to ...**
 - ...Answer 1: The biggest single cost is the launch cost. We have been promised a rideshare when a corporate partner launches their satellite in exchange for equity. If this deal does not happen, we would have to spend about $1M on the launch cost. Spaceflight.com publically lists a typical rideshare launch cost of $995K for a 12U cubesat into low Earth orbit. The other major costs are the "satellite bus" (structure, solar panels, attitude control, flight computer) and the "payload" (telescope...
3. **I am excited to invest in SpaceFab. You obviously have extremely brilliant, innovative minds behind this company. My biggest concern is, who is managing the business aspect of your company, including marketing and sales? How did you make the projections that you will be profit...**
 - Both of the co-founders have experience starting and running businesses. We have learned what to do and when to do them, as well as what not to do... ...A startup business has certain phases. The earliest phase involves idea generation. The biggest ideas are billion or trillion dollar ideas, but take the most money and time to implement. So we have chosen the idea that will take the least amount of money and time to start with, and will help us reach the gigantic goals. We have also intensive...
4. **This seems to be something really interesting. I am going to invest but i need to understand. 1) Are you guys talking with Venture Capital for Series A Round? With just Crowdfunding, company won't have enough money?? 2) Please elaborate more about Space Manufacturing? I have h...**
 - ...Answer 1: The funds we are raising now through Wefunder will be our "seed" round, which we'll use to develop our space telescope design. We want to show a lot of progress in designing and building the satellite before we present to Venture Capital firms and ask for a bigger investment to complete the flight ready model, launch it, and then have the resources to build up revenue. We can do a lot of the spacecraft development with the "minimum raise" amount, and showing that we are making pr...
5. **I realize this is a long-term plan and this is just the first step, but about how long do you imagine it will be before you move to the actual asteroid mining phase (if all goes as planned, how long before it's all up and running, actually mining and building useful things in ...**
 - The space telescope business is our short term plan. We are trying to launch our first satellite, a 12U cubesat, by the end of 2019, a little over two years from now, and get significant revenue a little after that. We then would like to grow the business by launching a constellation of at least a dozen of the 12U satellites, as well as some larger space telescopes. Any profits would be used for our first asteroid mining mission, which will hopefully at least break even... ...It might take te...

## Q&A
- Q: Is Spacefab still alive? I haven't seen any updates recently.
 - A: Hello Joseph, we are definitely alive. Did you get notice through Wefunder about our September 2022 update? We'll be making another update later this month also.
- Q: Is this company still active? Have not seen any status in a while.
- Q: I still only see the financial statements for 2016, 2017, and 2018. I do not see the 2019 financial statement. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place?
 - A: Hi Michael, all the statements 2016 through 2019 are on the same web page. I was able to see all four, and I downloaded the 2019 statement. Try clearing your web browser cache. Let us know if you still can't see the 2019 statement.
- Q: Where can we get the tax documents? Thanks
 - A: You can see the financial statements here: http://www.spacefab.us/finance.htmlThe 2019 financial statement should be posted by March 15, 2020.
- Q: Hey! I just recently joined wefunder and came across your company! If you guys hold a seeding round I'll love to invest! (Any chance you will hold another round 2019?)
 - A: We don't have any current plans to have another Wefunder round. We will probably wait another 4 or 5 months before making a decision.
- Q: Is there any overlap between your company and two others that are raising on WeFunder? Tesseract and Solstar Space Company
 - A: We do plan on adding propulsion on our next generation space telescope. It looks like Tesseract is currently only developing chemical propulsion, but we will need electric propulsion, so we won't be able to take advantage of their "green" propulsion. Solstar's technology is based on Wi-Fi radio, and unfortunately we are not able to use that type of radio for our communications. The Globalstar satellite network is a better fit for us, along with our laser communications technology. We do wish both of the companies "all the best"!
- Q: How does the new "Space Force" US military branch affect our company? It calls for an acceleration of space technology. https://seekingalpha.com/news/3381523-plans-laid-space-force
 - A: It will take some time for Congress to determine how the Space Force will actually work. Here's a quote from a SpaceNews article: "If we get (SpaceForce) in one year, it’ll be unprecedented. It took nearly five years of debate in the Congress to stand up Special Operations Command.”
- Q: Any updates?
 - A: We will post an update today!
- Q: Hello. This is a very exciting business. I'm just wondering about the terms - is this campaign a "Cap only, no discount" SAFE? Thank you!
 - A: Yes, we want to make the SAFE terms as simple as possible. You can see the details of the SAFE in the section "OTHER DISCLOSURES" which has the Form C information.
- Q: What will the minimum investment of $100 do for someone?
 - A: We appreciate all investors, large or small. We do offer observation time rewards to the larger investors.
- Q: What do you expect to be some of your initial manufacturing projects to be and what businesses are you targeting with those projects?
 - A: We plan to offer a manufacturing service, where we can make anything a customer wants. In the beginning, we'd just like to be able to take a metal billet and form rods and plates. Those items can be cut, machined, welded, and assembled according a customer's CAD drawings. Eventually, we'd like to have something like a McMaster-Carr inventory of parts. We could design some of the parts, we could commission other people to design some parts, and we'd like to establish a marketplace for people to design and sell their own parts. The marketplace could function like Alibaba, where you can buy wire, or a wire making machine, or machines for making a wire making machine.
- Q: Hi SpaceFab team, it looks like a great business and very excited about you guys are doing in the private space sector. Just curious, what are your thoughts on choosing crowdfunding as one of your funding sources? The concept is not very easy to understand compared to other industries (e.g. food, beverage, social networking, etc) and I don't think most of the regular investors on this portal would have technical background in this field. It would be very hard for regular investors to have sufficient knowledge to understand the business model and assess the feasibility of the project.
 - A: We are definitely traveling a different path than a typical high tech startup, but we have been encouraged by the response so far. Thank you for supporting our efforts in building a successful company and a new kind of space industry!
- Q: How is it going?
- Q: Another Year, how's it going?
- Q: You posted a stay tuned update on twitter almost a month ago, any update?
 - A: We'll provide another update in a day or two.
