   - Hi Chris, Thank you for your insightful questions and concerns. These are key reasons we created SHIFTit. First Question: Pay Rates Yes, we commit to showing the same pay rate for a given shift, no matter who views it. The rates are set by the healthcare providers, not SHIFTit. For instance, when Facility A posts a shift, they determine the hourly rate. If they set it at $50 per hour, they will see this rate plus our 9% platform fee before the shift goes live. When a shift is posted, healthca...

## Q&A
- Q: This article: pluralistic.net/2024/12/18/loose-flapping-ends/#luigi-has-a-point discusses last-minute shift scheduling apps like shiftkey, shiftmed, and carerev and how punishing they are for nurses. Will your product be less exploitative than those?
  - A: Chris, thank you for the article; it's a very insightful read. I am personally familiar with the apps mentioned—referred to as "bosses"—and their practices. The concerns raised about the gig economy's impact on healthcare workers are significant. However, it's important to highlight how platforms like SHIFTit are working differently to address these issues. SHIFTit empowers both healthcare facilities and professionals through a transparent direct rate model. Facilities set their pay rates, and professionals receive their full rate minus a modest 9% platform fee. This ensures nurses and healthcare workers take home a fair portion of their earnings, in stark contrast to other platforms where they might see considerably less. SHIFTit's approach levels the playing field by reducing agency fees for facilities and allowing professionals to retain more of their earnings without traditional staffing agencies. Higher pay tends to attract better quality workers, enhancing care standards overall. Additionally, SHIFTit encourages direct hiring without limitations. If a facility identifies a healthcare professional as exceptional, they're free to hire directly—without transfer fees or barriers, a unique feature among current platforms. This flexibility lets both parties assess compatibility before making long-term commitments. As a healthcare provider, I've encountered hiring challenges firsthand, and I value this mutual trial period. SHIFTit's model supports facilities and professionals in finding the right fit, fostering better relationships and outcomes. Please let me know if you would like to set up time to discuss further. Thank you Souheil

- Q: As a nurse who actively works shifts and uses these apps regularly, I can honestly say this: “Shift It” doesn’t seem to offer anything truly different. It’s still a third-party platform taking a cut—profiting off the hard work of nurses under the guise of offering ‘help.’ Let’s be real—this doesn’t solve any part of the healthcare staffing crisis. It just shifts the profits into a different company’s hands. Nurses are doing the labor, carrying the stress, and once again, someone else is getting a slice of what they’ve earned. I’d love to “see” what Shift It’s onboarding process actually looks like for nurses. Because from where I stand, it seems like the same model: sign up, get cleared, pick up a shift—but who is really vetting these professionals? Do you have an actual onboarding process for nurses? What checks are in place? What if I was a “fake” nurse trying to pick up a shift at a hospital? Who’s ensuring safety, licensure, and integrity? Sorry not sorry—but this looks like another company capitalizing on a broken system while marketing it as a solution. Nurses deserve more than recycled systems and polished branding. We deserve protection, respect, and pay that matches the sacrifice.
  - A: Hi Patricia, First and foremost, thank you for your dedication and hard work in healthcare—it's truly invaluable. I completely understand your concerns about third-party apps seeming to capitalize on the hard work of nurses. While it's true that platforms like "SHIFTit" are for-profit, it's important to highlight the measures we take to ensure we genuinely add value rather than merely profit. Our onboarding process sets us apart, focusing heavily on safety and integrity. We conduct thorough background and license verifications, along with ongoing checks. Nurses can also communicate with a real person during this process, ensuring a supportive experience. The requirements are directly aligned with what healthcare facilities need, and the rates are posted by them, allowing nurses to choose what works best for them. Our platform charges a flat fee of 9%, irrespective of the rates, which keeps it transparent and fair. Moreover, we take pride in facilitating opportunities tfor nurses to demonstrate their skills practically, especially those who may not excel in traditional interviews. We don’t charge a finder’s fee if a facility decides to offer a permanent position based on a nurse’s performance—a testament to our commitment to nurse empowerment. Your feedback is crucial, and I'd be grateful if you could share more thoughts or questions. Please feel free to book a time with me for a demo and further discussion. You can find me at www.Calendly.com/SouheilJ. Looking forward to the opportunity to address your concerns more personally.
- Q: On question 2, 4 hours is better than nothing but sounds to me like an awfully short time to arrange childcare. I think hospitals should commit a minimum of at least 24 hours in advance. To clarify on question 3, I'm asking about how you could compete with other apps for a hospital's business: if a hospital told you they're offering a shift at $50/hr but the same hospital could fill the same shift via another app at maybe $40/hr because they identify the most desperate nurses and let them bid each other down, why would the hospital choose your app? Unless you have some inherent cost advantage compared to other apps, I'm guessing that the only way it might work is if you advertise your fair-wage system to nurses and sign up a large enough portion of the nurses in a region to use your app exclusively to allow your app to act like a virtual union to prevent ultra-low wages in that region's hospitals. (I'm just an investor, not a nurse or hospital admin, so I'm sorry if I don't understand how this all works in practice.)
  - A: Chris, As I've mentioned, I've offered numerous opportunities to schedule a Zoom meeting for any questions you have. With over 20 years in healthcare as a provider, professional, and facility owner, I can address your concerns effectively. Regarding your first concern: Those in need of child care should pursue full-time positions. SHIFTit and similar apps are designed for those with extra time or seeking to showcase their work ethic, not as full-time job replacements. unlike other Apps, SHIFTit does not engage in rate negotiations or exclusive agreements. Many nurses face hiring restrictions due to agency agreements, non-compete and contracted rates, which require costly transfer fees. SHIFTit avoids these fees, encouraging hospitals to hire directly if they are impressed with a candidate’s work. On your second concern: If hospitals have time to shop for apps, it may indicate issues with their care quality. Hospitals set their rates on SHIFTit based on their budgets, without platform recommendations. SHIFTit offers transparency without contracted rates, allowing hospitals to hire with zero transfer fees. They can also access necessary certifications and checks at zero cost, accelerating the hiring process for any outstanding candidates that completes a shift at their site. Our platform helps nurses demonstrate their skills in ways traditional interviews may not. I hope this clarifies your questions. Since you're concerned about nurses and pricing, how do you propose handling when cancellations occur by nurses last minute or without notice, especially when complaints arise if hospitals cancel shifts? I remain available for further discussion via my Calendly link https://Calendly.com/souheilj
- Q: Thanks for the substantive reply. I guess the questions are things like: will your company permanently commit to always show the same pay rate for a given shift regardless of which nurse is viewing it, and to prevent bosses from canceling shifts a nurse has already agreed to within a few days or less before the shift begins (or at least make them pay the nurse for the shift anyway in that case)? And if you do, what will enable your system to offer rates that compete with the other apps that try to get the most desperate nurses to accept even lower rates of pay and/or bid each other's wages down, arguably saving hospitals money (while immiserating nurses, which could lead to poor quality care and in the long run could cause a nursing shortage and cost hospitals more)? Truly I'm rooting for you to make this work better for everyone. It just sounds like it could be a difficult space to enter unless your app could somehow help nurses form, in effect, a virtual union composed of enough of the nurses in each region that they would have the market power to get fairer pay rates from hospitals.
  - A: Hi Chris, Thank you for your insightful questions and concerns. When a shift is posted, healthcare professionals will see the rate after the platform fee, ensuring transparency. This sets us apart from others who negotiate and alter rates. Second Question: Shift Cancellations Cancellations can be frustrating for both sides. Currently, if a facility cancels within 4 hours of the shift start, the professional receives half of the agreed amount. Within 2 hours, they receive the full amount. We are developing an AI-driven scoring system to fairly assess and manage cancellations for both parties. Third Question: Competitive Rates SHIFTit does not negotiate rates. The rates posted by facilities are what professionals see, minus our platform fee. This helps facilities save on agency fees and allows professionals to earn higher wages. Importantly, there is no bidding process. What you see is what you get. Our platform empowers healthcare professionals by ensuring transparency and fairness. Lastly, I appreciate your support. While it’s a challenging space, we aim to be the Rolls Royce of the industry—prioritizing quality over quantity. Thank you again for your questions. I’d love to include you in our focus group to continue improving SHIFTit. Please feel free to set up a time using my Calendly link https://calendly.com/souheilj
