# Nahmias Et Fils Distillery

Producing Mahia, a traditional Moroccan fig spirit, from our family recipe

## Elevator pitch
We're introducing a new spirit category to the mix of popular liquors in the U.S. and around the world. Mahia, which literally translates to “water of life”— is a fig brandy made traditionally by the Moroccan-Jewish population. Our heirloom recipe has been used by a line of family Mahia distillers since 1900 in the village of Taznakht. Every drop is distilled from 100% carefully selected California figs and a touch of aniseed to be enjoyed by those curious enough to try it.

## Q&A
- Q: I invested $100 on Feb 10 2020 can u tell me where that investment stands?
 - A: Hi Vincent, Thank you for your question. We had our share of challenges during the Covid Pandemic during 2020 through the winter of 2022 as most bars and restaurants were either closed or limited during that time, but in 2022 placements on menus started to increase. We also began exporting, sending our first pallets to Morocco this past summer. On other fronts, our contract distilling and bottling business has picked up dramatically. Over past year we produced for 8 alcohol brands ranging from vodka to gin and are adding new brands in 2023. This part of the business provides high margins and nice cash flow.
- Q: Any updates?
- Q: Any updates for Investors?
 - A: Hi Arun, we had a challenging year due to Covid-19 in that much of our traditional sales to bars/restaurants dried up.. However, we were able to pivot quickly into hand sanitizer production/ sales along with direct to consumer sales of our alcohol via our website and farmers markets. We ended 2020 with better than expected sales numbers and we are shifting our resources to further increase our direct to retail sales.
- Q: The first time I tasted this product was in 2019 at a farmer's market in Brooklyn NY and bought a few bottles also got the card to invest but misplaced it. We just had a bottle with Christmas dinner and I logged on to check on another investment I have and saw this; is it too late to invest?
 - A: Hi Kimalee, Thank you so much for your inquiry. We closed our round last year.
- Q: Have your company been contacted to make sanitizer for the states like other distillery companies?
 - A: Hi Mario, yes we have been contacted to make hand sanitizer and are in the process of sourcing the materials and registering with the FDA.
- Q: Can I still invest?
- Q: Do you intend to pay a dividend?
 - A: Hi Craig, not at this time as we want to preserve as much cash flow as possible.
- Q: When does this fundraise campaign close? Looks like you are at about 25% funded, so are you concerned about not raising the minimum?
 - A: Hi Craig, The campaign closes on February 8th and we hope to make our min.
- Q: How did 2019 sales end up?
 - A: Hi Craig, our revenue for 2019 was $212,000 versus $170,000 in 2018.
- Q: I just want the clarity about the contract. Your evaluation is 2M. If someone invests $20,000 does that mean they are getting 1% interest/ownership in your company or am I getting it wrong? How much ownership are you allocating to yourself?
 - A: HI Kanwardeep! Thank you for your question. The answer is no. You will be awarded shares and not awarded a specific ownership percentage. Ownership will depend on total amount raised and can be subject to dilution in the future. You should consult Wefunder's resources regarding investments. Here is a link: https://help.wefunder.com/#/risks/304330-will-my-percentage-ownership-be-diluted Please let me know if you have further questions.
- Q: What exactly can we expect from our Preferred stock, I know it is non-voting right but does it come with dividends? If so what would the expected yield be?
 - A: We hope to issue dividends down the road and preferred shareholders would get paid before the common shareholders.
- Q: There's been no updates in a while, maybe seven weeks. Is this campaign still active?
 - A: Hi Craig, thank you for your question. The campaign is active. We have been so busy the past couple of months with increased sales and production .
- Q: Are any of your products certified kosher? Considered kosher? Where is the distillery? Any plans of certifying? Is the distillery in California or Morocco or elsewhere?
 - A: HI Jon, Our products are not certified kosher however the Mahia ingredients are dried figs, kosher yeast, water and a touch of aniseed. We are looking to get certified kosher for Passover sometime in the future. It’s really a matter of cost/benefit. Our distillery is based in Yonkers NY which is just north of NYC and considered the gateway to the Hudson Valley. We are the only producers of Mahia in the United States.
- Q: Your FORM C filing (the photo) on EDGAR had the type of security for the offering listed as Common Stock. I want to confirm that the investment into your campaign is for Preferred Stock; correct?
 - A: Hi Matthew, thank you for your interest. The investment into our campaign is for preferred stock as per our form C.
- Q: Hi Dorit, I have three questions: 1. I live in California. Is there a way that I can buy your products? I saw that the availability of your product depends on where you live (ie Texas vs. NYC). 2. What % of the company is currently owned by insiders (presumably you and David)? 3. What retail connections do you have and plan to create? In the video, it appeared that you were selling at what looked like a farmer's market. What sources contribute most to your revenue?
 - A: HI Tim,Thank you for your questions. 1.You can purchase our Mahia at Hi-Time wine in Costa Mesa, and Noe Valley Wine and Spirits in SF. Alternatively, you can order online at Astor Wine and Spirits in NYC. Here is the direct link: https://www.astorwines.com/SearchResult.aspx?search=&searchtype=Contains&term=nahmias&p=2Generally speaking many outside of NY order the products online, however there are states (like Texas and Utah) that prohibit out of state shipment of alcohol to consumers, thats why the availability differs state to state. 2. 50% of the company is owned by insiders and the remaining is currently owned by other family members. (Details are disclosed in the form C)3. We have over 200 retail accounts in NY, with the majority liquor stores, then bars/restaurants, and we are opening new accounts all the time. Outside of New York most of the accounts are bars and restaurants featuring the Mahia on their cocktail menu and some liquor store accounts. Sales to accounts in NY (self-distribution) and our out of state sales (FoB) account for the majority of our revenue. However, farmers markets give us our highest profit margin since we are selling at retail. We started selling at farmers markets in the NYC metro area three years ago, and do up to six markets a week during the season which goes from May-December. Farmers markets allows to directly reach the consumer, build a loyal customer base, feed new accounts and it provides us with the highest profit margin as we are selling at retail.
