The MacDougall and Sons Bat Company was born because of a father’s passion for baseball and his desire to share it with his two sons. In 2008, John MacDougall, a custom home designer/builder for 30 years, decided to use his architectural knowledge and wood-working skills to solve the problem of broken bats. For over a year, he prototyped and tested designs until he perfected the revolutionary and patent-pending PowerWood technology that has become the heart of a MacDougall and Sons bat.

Our hand-crafted bats feature an innovative laminated design with a unique combination of Hickory and Birch. Twenty-four wedge-shaped pieces of wood are bonded together, each one milled and inspected to ensure its grain is straight. They will not fail like a regular solid wood bat. They are 5 to 10 times more durable than a solid wood bat, as proven by testing at the Baseball Research Center at University of Massachusetts.
