# lyfmap.com

A positive social network that connects users over history is building Google Maps to the past!

## Elevator pitch
Lyfmap.com is a network that connects people over shared history: History of ourselves, our ancestors, and the places where we live. While initially targeting people age 50+, Lyfmap is for everyone, 100% free, and available NOW. Lyfmap allows users to save all their photos and memories at the map locations where they happened, preserving forever these moments of history. Then we notify you when others save memories at those locations, to reminisce with others over the great places of your life. We are sort of like a Facebook for Locations.

## Story
It began with a realization:That the Baby Boomer generation has Billions of paper photos and knows the stories behind them. And that they will all disappear......But, if we could build a website to capture that information, we would provide a massive social benefit, and at the same time build an incredible moat of proprietary data!People love to tell stories and reminisce about the places of their lives, and Lyfmap gives them an easy way to save those stories where they happened, and then connect with others who have those locations in common. And we've now topped 3200 local (St Paul, MN) users, have over 1 million pieces of history saved so far, users who have saved over 1000 memories each, and we're just getting started. This is the biggest mission on Wefunder. Are you in?

## FAQ
1. **Hi. Are you generating revenue? If yes, what was the 2020 revenue total? If no, when do you expect to start? Once you do, what are your revenue goals for the next 5 years?**
 - Hi Leonardo, thanks for the question. We are currently pre revenue. We will roll out the revenue model on a city by city basis as the user count hits certain targets. In 5 years with nationwide penetration, expectations for our low cost small business advertising platform would be in excess of 20 Million ARR.
2. **Hi there: Very interesting idea. Interested and have couple of questions. 1. you have founded this 2015. Why it is late to launch it I mean website seems don't have activities than recently. Am I missing anything? 2. Please explain ways to generate revenue. 3. Are you only for...**
 - Hi Mohammad, thanks for the questions.1) I decided from the beginning to take the time to build something great. Time was spent launching the MVP, surveying users (TWICE!), and iterating off the responses to grow to where we are now, ready for the public. Recently we were busy building a OCR algorithm to capture unique data necessary for our users and to help solve the chicken-egg problem, placing millions of data points into the map timelines. Since this new...
3. **Thanks for answering my questions. Another follow up will you not pay anything to google as their map been used for business purposes?**
 - Currently, No. Once millions of users have joined Lyfmap there will be a minimal cost relative to the advertising revenue at that point. The specific Google Maps products we use are low cost.
4. **By the way, I would like to invest as accredited. pleases email me to discuss options: contact@ryliservice.com**

5. **I am fine with risky, this just seems very risky. What exactly will this money be used for? What are the key milestones in the next 1-2 years? Are you growing from 2 individuals? Thx**
 - Kurt, I will answer these in reverse order. Yes, 2 individuals and some dedicated power users that volunteer Lyfmap training. A little background for Milestones: We are a hybrid cluster network. The user feed shows only memories that are from within a 50 mile radius of your location. But users can save memories anywhere in the world and so will interconnect with other clusters. We will develop on a city by city basis (Los Angeles next) for ...

## Q&A
- Q: I want put some info only for family relatives. How much privacy should I expect?
 - A: Thanks for your question, Sinin LU. I have 2 thoughts. First, there is anonymity of the crowd. If millions of people are on Lyfmap, the likelihood of ANY person being discovered is very small, unless you lived in the same house, etc. The second point is that by design everything saved on Lyfmap is completely accessible to all users. This creates a whole new world of discovery for people to find interesting stories of their city or the world. This can not be found elsewhere.
- Q: How are you going to collaborate or compete with established sites like Ancestry.com? Done right, your idea has a lot of potential for people nostalgically documenting the past, but the User Experience needs to be unintimidating for 60+ users. How will the next version look and feel different than the current visually confusing website?
 - A: Michael, You are echoing my thoughts exactly! One of our first hires will be a UX/UI person to make using Lyfmap a beautiful, easy to use experience. Those upgrades will also incorporate something we are currently building, which is a One Button oral history capture. We need to consider the many who are not skilled at, or are incapable of significant amounts of typing. Speech to text will likely be included as well. As far as Ancestry is concerned there are two points I'd like to make. First, is that I see Lyfmap as an additional tool for the genealogist. Having ancestors' stories saved on a platform that is completely accessible to everyone, will assure that future generations will have access to Lyfmap research regardless of what may disappear behind paywalls. Secondly, we are developing ways for users to add their Gedcom files (Portable family tree files used by Ancestry and others) and find some utility within our system. Thanks!

The user feed shows only memories that are from within a 50 mile radius of your location. But users can save memories anywhere in the world and so will interconnect with other clusters. We will develop on a city by city basis (Los Angeles next) for attaining large enough user growth to begin the local revenue model, but targeted promotion for growth around the USA as well. Key milestone one is reaching 10K + actives in a city to prove value to advertisers. 2nd milestone is tied to data. We worked with a team in Ukraine to build an algorithmic tool for the capture of massive OCR data. A large amount of resultant data was installed into Lyfmap last year. Time spent on site by active users has doubled over the same time period. Milestone 2 is to scale this data capture 5x or greater. Money brings acceleration. 3 hires: Data Scientist, UX/UI to make Lyfmap a beautiful experience, and a CMO. Everyone will wear many hats. Very risky. I am one of Shaw's unreasonable men. I would submit that most of the giant tech startups were passed on by VC as too risky, and so this is the space you SHOULD be in. This is about belief in the mission. If you are concerned then I would suggest you moderate risk by reducing your investment. But still invest :) Thanks for your interest.

- Q: Hi there: Very interesting idea. Interested and have couple of questions. 1. you have founded this 2015. Why it is late to launch it I mean website seems don't have activities than recently. Am I missing anything? 2. Please explain ways to generate revenue. 3. Are you only for +ve memory or negative also. Let's say my grandma was dead in one property some bad reasons; usually people doesn't want to hear any death in the property at real estate transaction. usually it is undisclosed unless it is been disclosed or known to recent owner. Now it will be known to all from lyfmap. How do you handle this kind of potential legal matters? 4. I am not sure how it will be for business experience. Let's say somebody had excellent experience eating one restaurant( +ve memory) and other person have very -ve experience. How do you handle this? 5. Do you have any patent. Let's say FB/pinterest start this? how do you protect this.
 - A: Hi Mohammad, thanks for the questions.1) I decided from the beginning to take the time to build something great. Since this new data was added to Lyfmap, time spent by returning users has doubled! 2) Our revenue model envisions local small businesses building their history timeline on Lyfmap, telling the public what they stand for. For a low $10 they can place an offer to potential customers for that specific day using an animated pin on the map at their business location. The number of pins available on the map are limited, increasing FOMO for any given day. 3) From the beginning, Lyfmap is all about real. Real names for users. Real memories and events where they happened. And we all about being 100% open, nothing hidden on Lyfmap. As long as it true, all facts are welcome. I believe it would be hard to litigate against facts. 4) Great question. I believe this will evolve over time. Our intention is not to be a review site, although we are always open to all memories. My current thinking is that the since the owner of the business resides in that location timeline that they may be allowed some measure of control on how many review type posts are seen. 5) Internet patents are largely unenforceable and usually ignored by competitors. Certainly a large company could start something like Lyfmap. but since we are the only map based social network, it does not appear to me that this system would be a good fit into any existing networks. Four Square had good success with this model, but their system was more gamified and insubstantial, where the network effects of added memory data on Lyfmap can add long lasting value.
