Our Trade Up pricing is transparent and upfront: $15 store credit for pants that can be reused (typically 30-40% of retail), plus a $5 \"recycling credit\" even when items can't be resold. Progress to Date Your question about why we aren't farther is fair. The honest answer is multifold. Jackalo was bootstrapped until recently, which meant prioritizing: -Proving the circular model works in practice -Achieving strong margins without discount addiction -Building genuine customer loyalty instead of buying revenue The result is a business with strong fundamentals, ready to scale—not one still fixing the model underneath. Also, from 2020-2025, I was caring for my father who was declining and ultimately passed from Alzheimer's. My attention was divided between my business and caregiving. We built slowly because circumstances required it, but we built profitably with a model that works—which positions us well now that I can focus fully on growth. Do I see Jackalo as a billion-dollar company? I see Jackalo as a category-defining brand in circular kids' apparel. Kidswear is a massive, repeat-purchase market where parents are actively seeking better solutions. Whether that means $100M, $500M, or $1B depends on execution and channels—but the opportunity is there. On Competitors We view competitors in two categories: clothing brands and resale operators. Many clothing brands cited as comps aren't circular at the product or systems level, and several bought growth with massive early capital. Jackalo was built differently: slower, capital-efficient, with circularity embedded in unit economics rather than layered on later. For resale operators, franchise models work but don't solve the quality issue—clothes for kids 4+ don't last. Parents tell us that thrift stores have slim pickings for older kids. We're part of that solution. Given this, franchise resale models aren't directly comparable to ours. If you share offline which companies you're evaluating, I can give better comparisons. The children's apparel space has very different models (franchise retail, wholesale, DTC) with different unit economics.
