The Top eight reasons families choose microschools... are the reasons we’re building Changemaker Education. What do parents want from their child’s school? New research from the National Microschooling Center points to eight priorities at the heart of our model. As our Wefunder round approaches its close, we invite you to invest in bringing this kind of education to more communities. In a survey of 291 parents and caregivers at 36 microschools, the eight most frequently selected reasons for choosing their child’s school were:1. Small class sizes: 85%Our partner microschools are intentionally small, creating room for strong relationships and helping each child feel known. Our partner microschools keep ratios at a maximum of 14:1 and most often come in significantly lower.2. Individualized attention: 83%We support founders in building learning environments that respond to children’s strengths, interests, and needs. Our Founders tailor their core curriculum to meet students where they are.3. A safe school environment: 79%Small communities and strong relationships support our commitment to physical and emotional safety. Our students practice self-awareness and emotional intelligence skills with active reflections and discussions daily.4. Positive school culture: 78%Love, autonomy, community, creativity, and equity guide our approach. We help founders build cultures where children feel valued and connected.5. Hands-on learning: 67%Our model emphasizes experiential learning, giving students opportunities to explore, create, collaborate, and apply what they learn.6. Quality teachers and guides: 63%We are selective, partnering with brilliant educators who become supported school founders, with coaching, curriculum, operating infrastructure, and a community alongside them.7. Flexible school schedules: 56%Our founders have the autonomy to shape schedules around the communities they serve. That flexibility also reflects how our educators partner with families: with understanding, communication, and responsiveness to real life.8. A focus on non-academic skills: 55%This is central to our Mind-Body-Soul curriculum. Students learn leadership, emotional intelligence, nervous system regulation, and how to navigate relationships, developing skills they can use throughout their lives. These eight priorities reinforce why we built Changemaker the way we did.We help educators turn this vision into sustainable, community-rooted microschools where children can thrive. For investors, the research offers an encouraging signal: our model is designed around the qualities these families value.Help us bring that opportunity to more communities.
