When you raise from a crowd you don't have five investors, you have hundreds, and most of them will never call you... they'll just watch, and if you go quiet they'll assume the worst (I would too, and I've invested in 50+ private companies).The founders I'd back again send the same handful of numbers every month whether it's up or down, say what went wrong in plain words, and ask for one specific thing. A crowd that hears from you in a bad month is the same crowd that shows up for your next round.
