I wanted to share the following from an incredible experience I just had last week in Minnesota. On Thursday I wrapped up at one of the most productive and successful events in the alternative protein and sustainable food innovation industry, the MBOLD & Bridge2Food conference. MBOLD is a coalition of Minnesota-based, global companies like General Mills, Cargill and Target, and Bridge2Food brings together the leading players in the protein ecosystem to discuss solutions for solving pressing food system challenges. My takeaways: - Small events with a few hundred top-level industry executives and R&D leaders are incredibly productive for generating interest and business development conversations as an innovative protein company. While having a big booth at an event like IFT is absolutely incredible for massive outreach and visibility, niche events that are entirely focused on connecting people in the alt-protein industry allow for phenomenal 1 on 1 conversations and relationship building- RuBisCO is HOT. We were the only RuBisCO company at the event and the interest in a complete, clean, super functional LEAF protein is through the roof. - We're largely all working on addressing the same consumer-facing challenges, such as protein content, flavor and texture in alternative proteins. Luckily, RuBisCO addresses these challenges for manufacturers who want functional proteins without paying for extra ingredients to make BOTH functionality AND sensory work in their products. - Lots of solutions on the bacterial, fermentation, mycelium, and other food-tech innovations are dominating conversations, but supporting sustainable, regenerative (and even perennial) agriculture is not top of mind in this industry....and IT SHOULD BE. FUDI's alfalfa-derived RuBisCO protein supports farmers, soil health and rural community development while delivering the most functional and sustainable plant protein ever discovered.
