Jetoptera is exhibiting at Natural Disasters Expo USA in Houston this week, October 14 and 15, at the George R. Brown Convention Center. You can find us at Booth 524. 📍Disaster relief is one of the reasons I co-founded Jetoptera. When the Kathmandu earthquake struck in April 2015, most roads and runways were ruined, leaving trucks full of supplies stranded at the bottom of the mountains and airplanes with nowhere to land. High winds made airdrops of emergency supplies impossible. People went without critical, life-saving supplies for days.Other disasters followed the same pattern. The Fukushima tsunami devastated 400 miles of coastland, and Hurricane Katrina and the Haiti earthquake wiped out roads, bridges, pipelines, and ports. If first responders can reach the affected area within the first 48 hours, they can save lives, deliver medicine and food, evacuate the wounded, and contain hazards.During an emergency, we cannot wait for roads or ports to be repaired; instead we must look to the skies.Helicopters are the obvious answer, since they land without a runway, yet they are still limited in disaster situations. In Kathmandu, only a few could deliver life-saving assistance to remote sites, held back by the wind and weather. Helicopter speed is also limited, and exposed rotors make landing near people and rubble hazardous.Jetoptera’s Fluidic Propulsive System® (FPS®) benefits from the vertical takeoff and landing capabilities of a helicopter and removes its limits. FPS replaces rotors and propellers with a jet stream of accelerated air, making our aircraft faster and safer. In our tests, FPS valves adjust thrust in under 50 milliseconds, about ten times faster than rotor-driven aircraft respond, so an FPS aircraft can correct for a gust almost as soon as it hits. Wind tunnel testing also showed that blowing the FPS jet over the wing made the wing less sensitive to gusts. With no large rotors to limit speed, FPS aircraft fly 2-3X faster than helicopters, and with no exposed rotor they are safer to land near people and debris. In a disaster like Kathmandu, that means a faster, steadier flight to the mountaintops to deliver supplies directly to the people waiting there.5,000+ participants and more than 300 exhibitors are expected at the expo, and we are the only one presenting FPS. At Booth 524, we are showing responders technology designed to be safer and faster than existing disaster relief equipment. To our investors, thank you for powering this mission. To our followers, now is the time to back the future of airborne disaster relief at wefunder.com/jetoptera/invest ⛑️
