We’ve reached an important milestone:Artichoke is officially in pre-production.With $65,700 raised from 32 investors, we have crossed the campaign minimum and begun putting together the proof-of-concept short.We’re currently assembling cast and crew, working through our principal locations and storyboarding the film.For this update, we’re sharing a first look at some concept visualizations based on some of the actual locations we’ve identified, showing how some of the real locations we’ve found could be transformed into some of the locations we need for the film, including CIA headquarters, an interrogation room and an Afghanistan apartment. The Wefunder campaign closes August 28.Crossing the minimum gave us the confidence to move into pre-production, but it doesn’t mean additional funding is simply “extra.”The more we raise toward the full production budget during these final weeks, the more flexibility we have to protect the quality of the finished film.Additional funding can expand our casting options, allow us to bring in additional specialist crew, strengthen locations and production design, improve our equipment package, put more resources into post-production and potentially allow us to add another day of photography.For a proof-of-concept, those things matter enormously.The purpose of this short isn’t simply for it to exist. Its job is to demonstrate what the Artichoke feature can become.The minimum got us moving.
