People tend to chase whatever is hot. Today it's AI and technology. Tomorrow it will be something else. The same thing happens with brands, cars, investments—you name it.Occasionally, when I tell a potential investor that Stratton & Ivy is in the fashion business, I get this look that seems to say, “Fashion? Why fashion?” And I often laugh to myself. Do they realize that Bernard Arnault, the man behind LVMH, is the ninth-richest person in the world?LVMH—Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton—is a global luxury group encompassing approximately 75 brands, including Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Tiffany & Co., Fendi, Givenchy and Bulgari. In 2025, LVMH generated approximately $95 billion in revenue, with its Fashion & Leather Goods businesses alone generating approximately $44 billion.Take a look at the graphic I've attached. Fashion isn't some little niche business. It is an enormous global industry capable of creating extraordinary enterprise value. And unlike somebody who woke up yesterday and decided to chase whatever sector happens to be hot, I've spent nearly four decades in this one.Sometimes the greatest opportunity isn't where everybody is running. Sometimes it's where you actually know what the heck you're doing.
