Brynjolfsson's team, in the Quarterly Journal of Economics, found that even the most experienced workers experience quality declines when they consistently defer. Their follow-up at Stanford's Digital Economy Lab found that early-career workers aged 22 to 25 in AI-exposed roles have experienced a 16 percent relative decline in employment since late 2022.Every paper documented the effect.
