Hi all, just a quick update for you. Since we got our shipping container earlier this year, we’ve been talking about how our two ALPHA units will allow us to do real-time comparative testing between the two units. We can test anything from varying scoop shapes to different generator setups to different ways to charge the batteries. One thing we’ve been keeping an eye on with our current 2 units is how the “end plates” affect performance. In the picture provided, you can see that turbine “B” has a top plate and a bottom plate (circled in yellow), while turbine “A” doesn’t have either. Our data is showing us that, all other things being equal on the systems, turbine “B” with the end plates is performing over 20 times better than turbine A (the one without the end plates)!! That’s insane…if it’s really true…and this is why we do testing. The prevailing winds here in our alley come from the direction of turbine “B”, which means it’s possible that “B” is blocking or shadowing “A” and maybe that’s why turbine “A” isn’t performing as well as “B”. Before we make any final decisions on whether to use the end plates or not, we better make sure that wind shadowing is not the case. What better way to find out than to turn things around? Literally! We’re planning to rotate our shipping container 180 degrees so that “A” and “B” will be switched and we can get some definitive data on whether those end plates make a significant difference or not in the overall performance of our turbines!Determining the optimal scoop shape is an important step in our development, as it tells us which turbine shape to build for our upcoming BETA installations. We’ll keep you posted on the results of this switch-a-roo! We’re working hard to create better choices for your renewables future! Thanks again for your interest in what we’re doing here at Harmony. We appreciate you, our community, and are excited about our upcoming BETA testing and sharing this part of the journey with you.Sincerely,Chris & Cheryl and the Harmony Turbines Team
