We are thrilled to welcome our newest intern, Lucas, to the workshop and the test site.Lucas is an upcoming second-year Mechanical Engineering undergraduate at the Wentworth Institute of Technology (with sights already set on his Master’s and a manufacturing minor!). He brings a fantastic foundation in CAD and composites to our hard-tech sandbox.Lucas has jumped straight into the deep end of rocket development. What He’s Working On: Cutting-Edge R&D: He is currently collaborating with the Roux Institute to design a testing setup for their cold spray metal deposition research. If all goes as planned, we hope to apply this advanced manufacturing research directly to our rockets in the near future. Powering the Test Site: Lucas is helping us expand our solar panel array at the test location, ensuring our off-grid infrastructure is robust and ready for action. Keeping Us Shipshape: He's also tackling essential general maintenance projects to keep our operations running like a finely-tuned machine. "Something that excites me about being at bluShift is being able to actually work on projects independently," Lucas says. "With most other internships, I would not get the kind of opportunity to present my skills as I do here. I am also very much looking forward to our upcoming engine test!"We love giving bright, gritty engineering talent the freedom to actually build, test, and show what they can do. Please join us in giving Lucas a warm welcome to the crew!Turn up the thrust,Sascha Deri
