Happy March, The Absence of Violet investors.We’re nearly a quarter way into the year, so I want to share an update on where TAOV stands. And how you may be able to help.First, some very good news: after more than six months of legal work with USCIS, we have secured visa approval for cinematographer Albert Casademunts to come to Washington and shoot The Absence of Violet.This was a months-long, suspenseful process, with support coming from an unexpected range of people — including Netflix filmmakers from Stranger Things and The Umbrella Academy, Spanish film critics, and even a last-minute snowstorm FedEx run in Dallas that kept the case alive right before a deadline. The short version is: Albert is in.This means a great deal. While the rest of our crew is Washington-based, Albert and I have been developing the visual language of this film together for years. Having him here is a major milestone for the project.Next, we are now over 50% raised, with approximately $480,000 left to close.Our target shooting window is Fall 2026.This timing matters. Autumn is the right season for the emotional and visual world of The Absence of Violet, and Albert’s visa is valid for one year, which gives us a real window to capitalize on.Sean and I are actively researching and reaching out to potential funding leads.
