RECKLESS SPIRITS is full steam ahead to enter production in March 2026, but we still need your support! As a reminder, RECKLESS SPIRITS is a narrative comedic feature film that follows an Latin-Asian best friend duo who have their friendship threatened by a cult leader who wants to tear them apart.Using comedy as a vehicle for commentary on serious issues, the film is multilingual, multicultural, LGBTQ+, and much more. Though a comedy, it is REALLY about colonization, capitalism, and demented charismatic figures who wield their power in sinister ways. (Something we are all too familiar with in this current era!)Yet RECKLESS SPIRITS is a reminder friendship and community have the ability to prevail! Please share opportunities to support with your friends:Invest: https://wefunder.com/reckless.spirits (potential of return).(Investor deck with information is here.) Or make a tax-deductible donation through Northwest Film Forum (no potential of return).--- Unsure? We hope to ENTICE YOU to support by introducing you to our CUTE & DIVERSE CAST. :DAny contributions you make now will literally go towards getting them all paid, along with our 30-person+ cast and crew.* DAWN ANDERSON as YVETTE *An early 30s, straight-laced Korean-American therapist who is addicted to green juice and general wellness, YVETTE seems to “have it all” in the traditional sense. But while talented and disciplined in many ways, Yvette’s big secret is that she is absolutely terrible at being a therapist, even though she refuses to admit it. Everything changes when a charismatic cult leader comes beckoning, just as all her clients fire her. As the cult appeals to her fragile ego, Yvette learns that she loves the limelight and that she might just have what it takes to lead a cult herself.DAWN ANDERSON (이새벽별) (she/her) is a Korean-Scandinavian American actress, voice over artist, voice director and writer based in Los Angeles. This tiny human with a deep imagination is not afraid of tackling unconventional roles, stories, and enjoys finding layers of depth and nuance within even the wackiest of characters. Beyond reprising her role as Yvette in the upcoming Reckless Spirits, you can also see and hear Dawn in various film, TV, and commercials currently streaming on platforms such as Netflix, Amazon, Crunchy Roll, Disney +, as well as in video games such as Starfield, and theatre collaborations with companies East West Players and Rogue Artists Ensemble.* GUSTAVO DE GALLEGO as SYD *An early 30s, gender-fluid Mexican-American performance artist who is always up for an unconventional challenge, SYD is delightfully sarcastic and rebellious at heart. Syd is a true creative; they constantly create elaborate, inventive costumes to support their deeply profound yet highly unprofitable performance art abstractions. They’re coming up on three years of sobreity, but remain a bit of a loveable mess when it comes to the usual “adult” stuff. Still, they have a heart of gold and are deeply committed to their friendship and ethics.GUSTAVO DE GALLEGO (they/them) originates from Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, with artistry is rooted in the belief that performance is a sacred act of symbiosis. As a proud member of the Muxe community, their existence is inextricably linked to the traditional feminine knowledge of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. They do not simply perform; they manifest a heritage they describe as being grown by the hands of this ancestral mysticism. They use synergy between Oaxacan traditions and modern Pop culture to offer a fluid, inclusive perspective on the world.* JOEY RICHTER as GUY *A handsome, relaxed-looking LA-type in his early 40s, GUY is the charming cult leader and founder of Northwest Gathering of Workers and Dreamers of the Light (NWAGOWADOL). His dark intents are masked by his undeniable charisma, and he is keen to use his psychic talents to prey upon an unsuspecting Yvette. He also relies heavily on culturally appropriation for spiritual ideas.JOEY RICHTER (he/him) is an actor, writer, producer, & proud graduate of the University of Michigan (Go Blue!). Film/TV credits: Royalties (Roku), Henry Danger (Nickelodeon), Jessie (Disney), Glee (Fox), The Legend of Korra, Khumba, and GKIDS’ Ride Your Wave. Digital credits include: School of Thrones, I Ship It (The CW, Sundance Film Festival), Edgar Allan Poe’s Murder Mystery Dinner Party, & Headless. Founding member of the viral theatre company, StarKid, and can be seen in countless productions, including: the A Very Potter Musical Trilogy, the S.P.A.C.E and Apocalyptour Concert Tours (Live Nation), Starship, Firebringer, The Trail to Oregon! (Cherry Lane Theatre, Off Broadway), and recently, Nerdy Prudes Must Die, VHS Christmas Carol (The Bourbon Room), & their sold out concerts at the London Palladium. This spring he’ll be returning for the second remount of their hit horror comedy musical, The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals, at The Apollo Theater on the West End. Founder of the LA based comedy group, Tin Can Brothers. Credits with TCB include: Spies Are Forever (LA, NYC), Solve It Squad (Off-Broadway, Edinburgh Fringe), Flop Stoppers (Newport Beach Film Fest), Gross Prophets (Melbourne International Comedy Festival), & the game show The Great Debate @ Dynasty Typewriter.* ALEXIS RHEE as HALMEONI *A late 70s Korean grandmother wearing a hanbok, HALMEONI (Grandmother in Korean) is an ancient ancestor spirit that comes back to visit her future descendant, Yvette, who is a modern-day Korean-American therapist. Sassy, blunt, and a bit of a hardass, Halmeoni shows harsh love but is a sympathetic figure who looks out for Yvette’s best interests and dishes out advice in Korean idioms and proverbs.ALEXIS RHEE (SHE/HER) was born in South Korea and started learning the Violin when she turned 5 years old. Even early as 3, everyone around her noticed her immediate reaction to any and all artistic endeavor. She studied at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City and received a Master of Music degree. She appeared as an actress in the original Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, Academy Award’s Best Movie Crash, Black Panther, etc and for TV sitcoms, Dr. Ken, The Michael Blackson Show, The Brothers Sun (Netflix) as recurring characters. She loves all forms of Creative art and dreaming about dreams!* FELIX III as KONG *A nonbinary apprentice and office assistant to psychic Miss Esther, KONG is an agreeable young adult who is still learning the craft of psychic life. They are always dressed vibrantly in gender neutral Tokyo street styles. They tend to keep it lighthearted, though they do take the work seriously. As far as spirits go, they connect most deeply with faeries, gnomes, and nymphs not that dark stuff.FELIX III (he/they) is a queer, Mexican-American actor and musician based in New York City, known for their self-defined “End of Times Electronica,” a genre-blending sound that moves between ambient, new wave, and melodic techno. Drawing from their Mexican-American roots, their music pushes listeners between the meditative and the bombastic, exploring themes of ego, death, self-discovery, and empowerment. Felix III’s star is on the rise, having graced the stages of Outsider Fest, Bushwig, and SXSW. Reckless Spirits marks Felix’s debut feature film.*** Now a co-production between Mexico and the United States, RECKLESS SPIRITS is looking to secure an additional $18,000 in *investments* of any amount greater than $100 by ideally February 17, which will make a big difference on the feasibility of the production because it will unlock additional funding for us. Folks who invest can potentially make back 110% of the money that they put in, as well as help support an independent film that we believe is ahead of its time and a much-needed salve for these tragic times. :) Invest here: https://wefunder.com/reckless.spirits (potential of return).(Investor deck with information is here.) Or make a tax-deductible donation through Northwest Film Forum (no potential of return). See our updated, informative PITCH DECK HERE.
