📸 Max HauptThis morning as I sat down at my computer, I went looking for some inspiration.I've said it before, but the year 2025 has been hard... like, really hard. Moving away from my hometown, landing in a new place, rebuilding our business operations, twenty-five million transitions...it's just been a lot. I needed to feel reconnected to why I started this business in the first place before diving headfirst into my inbox. Maybe you can relate.I went digging through our Wefunder investor surveys this morning and came across something that stopped me dead in my tracks. If this response doesn't underscore why I've been committed for over a decade to bringing you good food when and where you need it, I don't know what does 💔 Question: What inspired you to become an investor in Heather's Choice?"It's a very personal story. About two years ago, my father sent me a photo of your Grass-Fed Bison Chili that he had recently purchased at REI. Early last year he had a very serious stroke (and subsequent dementia) and during his time in the hospital he constantly requested that we share a bowl of bison chili together. He ended up passing away last August, and in the process of clearing out his home I opened up his kitchen cabinet to find another package of your bison chili. When I saw your company on Wefunder, it just felt like the perfect investment opportunity as a means of honoring my father. He and I both love your product. Keep up the good work!"*cue Heather crying into her second cup of coffee.*When I started making dehydrated meals - illegally - in my apartment, I didn't know that our food was going to be more than just a staple in people's backpacks.I had no idea these meals would serve people recovering from illness, traveling across the country, surviving a natural disaster, or helping them power through another day at the office. But truth be told, I'm not that surprised.Food is not only a basic necessity, it's a deep source of comfort. It allows us to go from our fight or flight survival response into a deeply satisfied, safe feeling in our bodies, knowing that we've had one of our basic needs met. This might feel a little over the top for a Monday afternoon, but I mean it - when we are well-fed, we feel loved. If you, like me, are going through a trillion transitions this holiday season, I invite you to do something nice for your future self. You could tuck our African Peanut Stew or our Morning Glory Oatmeal in your carry-on, and when or if your flight gets delayed (or cancelled) you could have a piping hot, healthy meal to keep you company. You could send these meals to someone who is moving or who can't cook for themselves. You could send someone a box of Packaroons just as a nice way of saying, "I'm thinking of you."As we move into one of the busiest and most hectic times of the year, lets remember that we still need to take good care of ourselves (and each other), and one of the easiest ways to do that is to make sure we're well-fed.Looking forward to sending you some meals and snacks to make your holiday season that much easier!Love,Heather
