This weekend, I stepped away from the inbox and got back to what fuels me…and Wild Rye: getting outside, moving my body, and having a hell of a lot of fun doing it.A few of our Wild Rye team members, friends, and my husband (frequently referred to as Wild Rye's intern - and notably ALSO wearing WR shorts) joined a local Sun Valley race that’s all about fun, community, and embracing the chaos. The course? A singletrack trail that rockets from the very top of Bald Mountain, our iconic hometown peak and the daily backdrop to our office, down to the local après-ski bar, Apples. Riders leave the start line one by one, spaced a minute apart, and hammer through an extremely pedaly descent and one long and jarring climb that takes about 40 minutes to complete (assuming no mishaps…).To top it off, there’s a chance to shave a minute off your time by chugging a beer in under 20 seconds at the finish line. Tapping into my college lacrosse grit (and maybe a little competitiveness) I was the only woman to take on the beer bonus and actually nail it. Despite being the oldest woman in my division by about seven years, I landed 4th place overall.Of course, not without a little drama. Mid-race I took a superman-style dive off the bike on a loose corner (I'm fine! Except maybe feeling my age a little more than I’m used to!). Shoutout to our Freyah Pants and Lil Party Shirt, which protected my skin and spirit and made sure I still crossed the finish line in style. It was one of those days that perfectly encapsulates what Wild Rye is all about: celebrating the joy of movement, the power of community, and the pure magic that happens when women feel confident and strong outside whether on bikes, skis, or just adventuring with friends. Thanks for being part of this ride with us. Here’s to more weekends filled with dirt, laughter, and playing wild.– Cassie Founder & CEO, Wild Rye
