As you've likely heard by now, a proposed federal budget amendment could force the sale of public lands across the West — from Idaho to Arizona, Utah to New Mexico. That includes places we bike, hike, ski, hunt, camp, and call home. This would be detrimental to our lifestyles, mountain town economies, and the environment, so because Wild Rye knows no other way than to live by our "give a shit" mantra, we've been raising hell to prevent this from happening. Last week, Cassie had the opportunity to publish an op-ed in the Idaho Statesman in partnership with Protect Our Winters, speaking out against the proposed sell-off of public lands. She also joined a group of Idaho business leaders in a meeting with Senator Risch’s team, organized by The Conservation Alliance. Finally, Wild Rye put out a social post with an overview of what’s at stake, with the tools to take action. It’s been shared over 12k times. A few days later, both Senators Risch and Crapo made public statements opposing the sell-off.Our effort was a tiny piece of outpouring by Idaho constituents to sway our legislators—but it’s an illustration to show how and why Wild Rye is stepping up. Public lands are core to our business and to the $1.2 trillion outdoor recreation economy that supports over 5 million American jobs. And while this advocacy is deeply personal, it’s also strategic: it helps us lead beyond our size, build lasting trust with our community, and connect with new, values-aligned customers. We believe that standing up for what matters makes our brand stronger—and our business better.Thank you again for investing in Wild Rye and helping us fight the good fight.
