The initiative is part of a broader regional strategy aimed at strengthening the ecosystem of innovative startups, in synergy with incubators, accelerators, and local innovation stakeholders. The Value of Rural Tourism and Ruralis' MissionAccording to Legambiente, Italy is home to over 5,000 small municipalities, inhabited by nearly ten million people, or 16.4% of the national population. However, between 2001 and 2024, these villages experienced a population decline of over 8%, along with a steady aging of their communities. Without new development opportunities, many of these areas risk total depopulation. In this context, Ruralis aims to boost tourism flows to small villages, enabling the growth of local communities and rural economies. Specifically, Ruralis helps owners of vacation homes, B&Bs, guesthouses, and agritourism lodgings manage their properties to increase visibility and profitability, through market analysis, growth strategies, booking management, and regulatory support — all through a dedicated app designed for maximum transparency and ease of use.Ruralis also provides assistance to tourism operators not yet active, helping them launch their businesses, for example by obtaining mandatory identification codes (CIR and CIN).Compared to mass tourism in large cities, rural tourism is more sustainable, as small villages have a lower ecological footprint due to their lower population density and limited infrastructure. This tourism model is a key opportunity for Emilia-Romagna — and with the opening of Ruralis’ new office, the region further strengthens its role as a strategic area for developing rural tourism flows.A New Phase for a Sustainable ModelThis expansion marks a major milestone for Ruralis, which continues to invest in the digitalization of rural tourism and the revitalization of Italy’s inland areas. It’s a project that merges technology with local territory, economic growth with inclusiveness — and looks confidently to the future of sustainable travel. In line with its growth path, Ruralis is now hiring an administrative and accounting specialist to join the team and work in its new Emilia-Romagna office, providing support for financial and operational activities. The exact location of the new office will be determined based on the place of residence of the selected candidate. To apply, visit the company’s LinkedIn profile where the job post includes full details on the role and required qualifications.
