Glaucoma is the second-leading cause of blindness in people aged 50+ around the world. Glaucoma is characterized by a rise in pressure inside the eye, which damages the optic nerve that connects the eye to the brain. The characteristic changes due to glaucoma is a change in shape of the optic cup and the optic disc in the back of the eye. These shape changes, along with increased pressure within the eye, are ways that doctors can tell that someone is suffering from glaucoma.BrainScanology's patented shape analysis software, called Shape Genie, has revealed that the changes in optic cup and optic disc due to glaucoma likely exists as a continuum of shapes that range from normal to high distorted! No other technology can measure shapes that we BrainScanology does. We are happy to add this as another discovery made possible by BrainScanology's supporters. Here is a video explaining our findings on glaucoma.Video [12 min]: ShapeGenie Identifies a Continuum of Cup & Disc Morphology in Glaucomahttps://youtu.be/shohTN5fcKUSlides from video:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-TZ0YlxxuP8NSfPZAhXsPHYFclexltRW/view?usp=sharing
