Dear wUrld-Builders,I've spent the last several days in intense postproduction to release the biggest asset for ReelwUrld's first show before the close of our Wefunder campaign. The asset is a video that answers the question "where's the show?" asked to me by both Techstars Rising Stars and Pharrell's Black Ambition Prize when ReelwUrld was a finalist in each for a $1M investment last year. What they were really asking was "where's the end product of ReelwUrld's system as a final movie or show made with a community?" The video, called JFH: The Story So Far..., summarizes the narrative of ReelwUrld first show produced through our cinematic social network by showing footage from people across the world that tells a cohesive and epic story with hundreds of completely original characters created by our users. This video hit social media last night and is a huge milestone for our company. However, also last night, our Wefunder campaign did not reach the minimum required to close and solidify those who have transferred funds to officially become investors in ReelwUrld.Having spoken to so many companies and founders that have had success in equity crowdfunding (even having Legion M's Jeff Annison invest in our campaign), I've been aware that the landscape of raising is either driven by built-in audience or algorithmically by targeted ad spend. Given that 60% of our audience is under 18 and therefore can't invest yet, and 80% are outside the US), a marketing budget was always the main strategy for getting the word out to sell shares. Since our hiccup with our original lead investor (story in my video from last week) I've felt split between running the company, managing our community, driving content creation, and raising the marketing dollars needed to push our campaign. While I do wish we had magically raised a signnificant amount of capital here this time, especially given the amazing support from our account manager Jake Suggs, the spirit of community ownership is at the foundation of ReelwUrld. We'll surely return to offer shares in our company to the public in the future. In the meantime, all investments made during this campaign will return to investors. For now, we will focus on raising privately, so if you'd like to learn more about investing directly in ReelwUrld outside of an equity crowdfunding campaign, please reach out to me via email at Jan@reelwurld.com. On that note, here's a 1min short of highlights from VC Andy Russell interviewing me in which he talks about the scale of the problem ReelwUrld is solving, its importance for humanity, and why we're investibleI'll be sure to keep our Wefunder community updated, especially with a new team member getting ready to join us. Also, feel free to use my email above if you ever have a thought, question, or idea you want to share.Thank you all so much for believing in ReelwUrld. With Heart,Jan L.
