2023 started strong with Barrow's Intense being on the menu at all 300 PF Chang's around the country in a limited-time-only specialty cocktail for the Lunar New Year. (https://www.pfchangs.com/press-releases/pf-changs-celebrates-the-2023-lunar-new-year-and-year-of-the-rabbit)At the same time, our tasting room went through some growing pains as post-COVID consumers were moving back inside, yet we were still doing significant business from the temporary takeout window we had installed during COVID. As a result, we decided to embark on a substantial renovation of our tasting room. First, we installed a new two-station bar to service the takeout window and interior space simultaneously. We expanded our takeout window by making all three windows in the bay operable instead of the single one we had been using, and added an outdoor bar with seating along this bay. Once the new bar was operational, we converted our original bar into communal seating. We did all this and only had to close down for two days.The renovated tasting room has received lots of compliments. Sales overall in the tasting room are up YoY. Almost all the gains - 19% YoY growth- occurred after the renovation. Despite starting the year strong, the 1/2 half has slowed considerably. The entire industry has experienced this trend, which is not exclusive to our business. There were some lingering effects of COVID on the overall market that should dissipate in 2024.Our financial estimate for 2023 is that we will break even or have a modest profit. We also have some exciting news that we hope to be able to announce in early 2024 and will hopefully post in a few weeks with the update. Please remember to ask your local liquor store and restaurant/bar to carry Barrow's Intense if they do not.
