Escaping Ohio and I won the Outstanding Directorial Debut award last weekend at the Washington West Film Festival (ranked #2 this year on USA Today's Best 10 film festivals) The festival also had this beautiful speech: "As we honor 'Escaping Ohio,' let this award serve as a beacon for Jessica Michael Davis’ promising future. 'Escaping Ohio, is a film that captures the essence of individuality, daring to tell a story of resilience, self-discovery, and the courage to choose one's own destiny."We were also featured in the news here, where the festival is quoted talking about Escaping Ohio and says, "We love it. I think this is going to end up being distributed like ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty,’ a must-see-" The screening and Q&A was wonderful; had a full house and our audience spoke so highly of the film and the feelings it evoked in them. Truly a spectacular weekend and further proof our film is relatable, heartwarming, and meant to be shared widely!
