Greetings and Happy New Year Team BlackFULLness!! We are starting 2023 powerfully manifesting intentions and we want to share a few things:Roots Community Health has shown up as a PREMIER Community Partner and we are working with them on a monthly plan to engage their staff more deeply, collaboration on their #RealTalk about Mental Health community outreach campaign (you may see us on billboards soon); and they are launching a new mindfulness program with 300 of their East African Immigrants in the South Bay, where the app will be at the center. We've added some great new Community Partners including United502, or organization based in Louisville, KY, where 23% of the population is Black, that supports young folks with career/life readiness; and Cr8 the Space, based here in Oakland creating safe space for mental health support.TODAY, was a banner day for new relationship building! We met with:I3 Academy, a K-7 Charter School in Birmingham, that is the largest school in the area and they connected us to CareerLife, an educational readiness/college prep program also in that area. We met with the University of California Student Association and David will lead a workshop at their Students of Color Conference at UC Davis this month, AND they have BIG ideas about how to bring us into more spaces in the UC eco-system.We met with the University of Houston - Downtown to bring support to their staff and faculty with additional conversations about their student body to come.Already this quarter, we have on the calendar with Community Partners:Two workshops for CSL Riverside, where I will also be there Sunday morning speaker at the end of January, heling them navigate some major change.A session with Black Teacher Project in February for Educators and Fellows in their network on the importance of mindfulness. An event with California 100, at their Youth Summit. They are focused on how we envision California in 100 years in terms of the environment, equity and education. We are working on building a relationship with Jackie Robinson Foundation and plan to be present at their event at the beginning of March in NYC.These are just a few of the amazing things we have going on, not the least of which is that our this campaign closes on Monday, January 16th. We already have some great plans for the money that we think we propel us in major ways as we cultivate these new relationships. If you haven't shared the campaign, now is the time! So much more to come! Oh! I forgot to mention the conversations we have had with Outreach and Engagement at NYU and our collaboration with Destiny Arts Center and their work on the Summer of Violence Prevention AND we have secured providers for yoga, sound healing and breath work! Your investment is already helping to propel us into even greater things! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
