Dear Phenomena Investors,While things don’t always go as planned, sometimes they do. Fortunately, this summer, things are working out just as I’d hoped they would. We had three stated goals for this summer:To seed and grow our creator communityTo test, improve and harden the Phenomena Creator ToolTo expand our library of digital learning experiencesThough we’re only two-thirds of the way through the summer, I’m delighted to report success on all three fronts.1. Growing our Creator CommunityWe’ve had an amazing response to the Creator Camp with nearly 80 sign-ups for the week-long sessions. Each session begins with an introduction to Phenomena and to our Creator Tool. Throughout the week creators develop their concepts with feedback from our team and from the other creators. At the end of the week, we have a demo day where creators show their work. The Creator Camp has revealed three key insights:That our supply side is strong — there are plenty of creators who want to translate their knowledge into engaging educational experiencesThat the Creator Camp is an excellent recruiting tool, allowing us to find the best and brightest creators, and fold them into our full-time teamThat our Creator Tool is easy to pick up and use and is also well-liked by creators2. Improving the Creator ToolThe Creator Tool is the engine of our creator platform and with each passing week, it gains more horsepower. This is thanks to our small but highly productive development team and to our hyper-involved interns and other creators using the tool every day. Our #bugs and #features channels on Slack are constantly bubbling and our development team is responding in real-time. Additionally, we’ve brought two of our interns onto the Creator Tool development team and they’ve already added several key features to the platform. Best of all, all of this development momentum is happening on its own, without any pushing or needling on my part. It’s wonderful to see the process running itself and the Creator Tool improving week over week.3. Expanding our Experience LibraryMuch like the Creator Tool, our Experience library is also growing week over week. So far this summer, our interns and the PCC attendees have created 100+ experiences. From that set, we’ve selected 50 to be featured on our Featured Experiences page, which went live last week. By the end of the summer, we should have 100+ experiences live and accessible on the Featured Experiences page. As you’ll see, there’s quite a mix of experiences that are live now. I’m taking a hybrid approach to guiding experience development. I’m encouraging the PCC attendees and half of our interns to follow their passions and create experiences on topics of their choosing. This has resulted in experiences ranging from simple fractions to Schroedinger’s equation. There are even some music theory experiences coming soon. This diversity demonstrates the breadth of what’s possible with the Creator Tool and ultimately the breadth of the platform. Meanwhile, half of our interns are following a more deliberate course, producing experiences that follow the first semester of algebra, physics, and chemistry. This ensures we have a clear deliverable for STEM teachers to use in their classrooms come September.Next StepsWith August around the corner, we are shifting our outreach efforts towards teachers, with the hope of reaching them in the midst of their teaching planning weeks. These outreach efforts are beginning this week and will hit full stride in early August and continue throughout the fall.ConclusionI’m truly proud of our small team and how far we’ve come in the past seven months. This summer, we’ve turned an important corner, evolving from prototype to product to platform. We’ve transitioned from being the sole users of our software to the hosts of a burgeoning creator community. And we’ve enabled the continuous expansion of our experience library. As always, thank you for your support. It has enabled us to come thus far and is lighting our path into the future.Onward and upward!Best,Jared
