Hi all!I learned about learning platforms via John Haggle III and the power they create by bringing people and institutions together to develop new understandings at the edge of our understanding. The concept profoundly resonated with me as bringing various providers together to unearth what truly works for treatment is what Proof in Recovery is doing, but also because bringing together investors, institutes from the NIH, and technologists, like our develop Z1, is what I am trying to do personally so we can learn how to create platforms that are greater than their individual parts. To that end we're opening up our update section beyond those who have already invested so we can hopefully bring together an even greater amount of people to make substance use and eating disorder treatment better! Before we dig into these connections, here's how you can help:When an organization goes through major changes it can act as a precipitating event that leads to a career change. If you know an engineer or data scientist from Twitter (or other great companies) that may be looking for an opportunity to create something that helps those with substance use or eating disorders we would love to meet them. Email me at ZacharyQRatliff@ProofinRecovery.com.Recent highlightsOur conversations with the National Institute of Drug Abuse, National Institute of Mental Health, and National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism program managers and going well and we are developing specific aims documents for them now. We were excited to learn that we can work with each of the three and hope to identify research areas they wish to support through SBIR grants. Additionally, NIDA has issued another challenge we believe to be well positioned to win. This challenge requests a prototype to combat drug cravings which aligns with our Alpha I build and would build upon our successful challenge win. Z1 completed some great wire frames for our Alpha I phase of the platform that focuses on the psychoeducational & skill modules. We are going to be able to start gathering actionable data very soon! We are also going to be able to start interviews and have already begun exploring questions to understand the impact adding the simplest version of our technology has on the therapeutic process. This data will strengthen our NIDA submission and inform our software development decisions. ProductZ1 is helping us on two current workstreams. First is the development of wireframes for the product and the 2nd is branding. The wire frames are rather low-fi and help us get a working prototype into patients’ hands fast so we can ensure we start our feedback loop with real users as soon as possible. Conversely, the branding exercise is very high-fi and works to find the look and feel that patients can fall in love with and subsequently promote long-term use. ChallengesGrant writing is difficult and has it’s own language. If you know anyone with SIBR grant writing for the NIH experience we would love to be put in contact with them.
