We’ve been on the hunt for a new bottle as we’re walking through an exciting redesign of our product. Glass packaging has significant drawbacks as a breakable product and its supply chain is in a bit of hot water right now. So we turned to metal, knowing plastic wouldn’t be a good option because Pit Liquor (like any liquid) leeches chemicals and toxins from the plastic (made from petroleum, can any of it be actually food safe?). At first, we shunned aluminum because, well, no one wants aluminum in their pits. But then we learned the inside was coated with a food-safe coating. Good news! But we dug a little further to find out what might leech from that lining into the deodorant. We learned that formaldehyde, among other poisons, were going to be seeping into our product. When you work as hard as we have to make a totally pure product, you don’t just casually let crap ooze into it. So we scrapped the aluminum bottle and plan to move forward with unlined stainless steel or something equally pure. Our commitment to safety and integrity is so much more than lip service. We do the hard hard work of backing it up.
