Love is often expressed in food, and wars have been fought over food scarcity. To feed the ones we love, healthy and delicious organic food can be available, year-round, from the arctic to the rainforest, from a HeartFoods Community Farm. Each farm is custom designed for location and crops, and will fall into two main categories:1) The “Plug & Play” farm: These modular farms are ideal for quick set up and start-up at sites such as grocery stores, food banks, schools/universities, hospitals/assisted living, sports/music venues, large business campuses, and in community centers with restaurants and residential dwellings. They are built with modular components and typically feature a temperature controlled vertical farm grow room. Depending on the location and land availability, a greenhouse enclosure could also be used as the primary crop growing facility or built onsite in addition to the vertical grow room(s).2) The aquaculture option: Seafood grown in recirculating aquaculture systems can be added within a greenhouse enclosure. The tanks feature an “aquaponics” design that recycles the water, nutrients, and CO2 from the seafood production to grow vegetables, and greens/herbs, within the high-tech greenhouse facility. The hydroponically grown food crops can also include vining vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and green beans within the tall greenhouse structure. The aquaculture option typically requires a larger property. Here is a growing list of food crops that could be produced in a HeartFoods Community Farm:Greens and BerriesRomaine lettuceKaleArugulaBok ChoyMangoldGreen oak leaf lettuceCurly EndiveIceberg lettuceSpinachRed Romaine lettuceGreen mizunaGarden strawberryHerbsBasilPerillaFennelThymeRosemarySmall-leaf basilDillMintMicrogreens (sprouts)Red radishGreen radishCressRed mustardPeaOnionSunflowerVegetablesCucumbersCherry tomatoesRadishPeppersGreen BeansEdible flowersNasturtiumCloveViolaBorage Seafood ProteinsBarramundiTilapiaShrimpPlant-Based ProteinsSpirulina (blue-green algae)Water Lentils (Duckweed)
