Hello everyone, I wanted to take some time to share a bit of our journey with you and express some gratitude for the privilege we have in building a better healthcare experience. It took nearly four years for us at Nicolette to go from an idea to the reality of NicoBoard being in the hands of NICU parents. It took several more months to prove the impact that it has on the healthcare experience. Even now there are several economic impacts still being researched. As first-time founders whose CEO (me) was an outsider to the healthcare industry, there are hundreds of lessons we’ve learned along the way. Having a brilliant team with the fortitude to navigate unforeseen challenges is what it takes to even have a chance to succeed. Thankfully, that is exactly what we have.On top of that, it is quite clear that launching an enterprise health tech startup requires two external things:Capital from seed investors prior to commercial traction. Many investors will market themselves as “early” or “seed”, but true seed investment is pre-revenue. Health systems and payers that will be the first to commercially implement a new technology. There are many “innovation” departments at health systems and insurance companies, but true innovation means being the first to fully implement new technology on a commercial basis. There are precious few of either of these entities, and we’ve seen many well-deserving startups fail to gain the foothold needed to launch. I’m very thankful to have had excellent partnerships in both areas in launching Nicolette. That includes you, our crowdfunding investors!Wishing you a happy holiday, Phil Martie
