Whew! We have been busy and things are about to get busier! First off, thank you to the now 286 Wefunder investors who have now put in just about $200,000 toward Harlan's first legal brewery. In this update, we provide a summary of construction progress, highlight a art gallery show opening focused on Harlan, and discuss the closing date for investing in Harlan County Beer Company. First, let's catch up on the progress of the brewery.Construction, Licenses, and Menu DevelopmentWe have finally completed the structural stabilization repairs on the building and are all ready to put on a new roof! Our hard-working Harlan crew removed more rotted wood than many of us have seen in a lifetime. The good news is the rotted wood is gone! The even better news is we were able to keep some of the non-rotted historic wood that we plan on using to make the bar top. Below are a few more pictures of our restoration work. It's hard to believe that when we bought the building grass was growing on the first and second floor decades-old roof leaks. The first picture is before repairs and the second is after. With all the rotted wood removed, we now have a structurally sound and level building. Everything from the roof to the floors to the stairs are back to true. We even had fun using a digital level accurate to the hundredths degree confirm that the once crooked stairs are finally level! We are now ready for new construction. In other updates, we've been busy applying for our federal brewery permit through the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTS) and state alcohol license through the Kentucky Department of Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC). Our menu development is also in full swing. For sure things on the menu right now include burgers, fries, sandwiches, and fresh salads. Our goal is to be one of the best sit-down local food dining experiences in Eastern Kentucky. Shout out to Kristin Smith at the The Wrigley in Corbin, KY for leading the way! If you have ideas about what we absolutely need to have on the menu, drop us a comment below!Welcome to Harlan ShowOne of the best parts about having an investment partnership connecting Louisville to Eastern Kentucky is we get opportunities to showcase incredible talent from across the state. In this case, Harlan County Beer Company helped spur an incredible art show at Revelry Boutique and Gallery in Louisville, KY. The Welcome to Harlan show highlighted the art of Eastern Kentucky-based artists Stef Ratliff and Lacy Hale, and Louisville-based artist Danny Seim. If you don't know about Stef, Lacy, or Danny, now you do! Check out some of their work below. And plan a special trip to Revelry to see the show and a ton of local art!Stef Ratliff, Honky Tonkin'Lacy Hale, No Hate in My Holler Danny Seim, Black Light JokerInvestment Window Closing in AugustThank you to all of you who came out to our investors' forums in May. In addition to the $200,000 we've raised on the Wefunder Platform, we have another $50,000 in commitments, bringing the total investment to $250,000. We will not be raising more than $300,000 just to make sure you all get double your money back in a timely manner. So with that, we will be closing the investment window in late August. At that point, we cannot take any more investment. So, if you want to put more in (which some of you already have) or you are a new investor, now is the time.
