Check out our video update for some big news about our Firelight Phoenicia project! Transcript below:Hi everyone,This is Bobby Frisch, CEO and co-founder of Firelight Camps. We’ve been a bit quiet here on our Wefunder campaign over the last few months as we’ve been really focused on pushing forward our Firelight Phoenicia project in the Catskills and on getting ready for the 2021 operating season here in Ithaca, but we’re now revamping our campaign, and are going to be doing a last push to raise more equity for the company over the next few months and then close out our campaign.I wanted to share some great news with you all – we received our conditional special use permit and site plan approval from the planning board of the town of Shandaken NY on Wednesday night for Firelight Phoenicia! So that means that we are now past the NYS environmental review or ‘SEQR’ process, and also have all of the approvals we need from the local planning board. That is a HUGE milestone for the project! We still do have some more ministerial approvals to get through from the DEC, DEP, DOH, and a few others, but having our site plan approval, special use permit, and SEQR approval has removed a large amount of risk from the project and has already added a tremendous amount of value to the property.If anyone out there has been in commercial real estate development, especially in NYS, you know how intense and arduous of a process it can be – so I want to say a big thank you to our team which includes Jen Preston and Pedro Marmolejos of Shelter Design Architecture, Allan Dumas of Brinnier and Larios Engineering out of Kingston NY, our local land use attorney Mike Moriello, and especially our all-star Chief Development Officer Matt Moss, who has been spearheading the project, and who brings a tremendous amount of experience and attention to detail to our team.We are pushing forward with design, we’ve selected a contractor, and though it is a tight timeline, we are still pushing to open phase 1 next summer.Please consider joining us and investing with us to help get more people outside, to bring a beautiful, upscale camping experience to a wider market, and to help encourage reverence for the natural world.Thank you to everyone who has invested with us thus far – and I’ll talk to you again soon.Cheers!
