WOW. What a year we’re having at washbnb!!! I’m both thrilled and humbled by the incredible amount of support, validation, and growth we’ve experienced rounding the corner into our 2nd year and I’m excited to present a small snapshot of where things stand today and allude ahead to where we’re going for the rest of 2021 and beyond. But first, a big announcement:Join us on June 16th for our inaugural “Invest in washbnb launch party”https://www.eventbrite.com/e/156569649035When: Wednesday, June 16th from 2pm to 8pmWhere: washbnb, 2510 S Kinnickinnic Ave, Unit A, Milwaukee, WI 53204Who: All washbnb investors - use promo code ANGEL to reduce the price of “investor tickets” to zero in eventbrite. Non-investors are invited to purchase $25 tickets via the eventbrite site. What: Come meet team washbnb, see our awesome warehouse/laundry facility, sip fresh beer from Mobcraft, and encourage your network, neighbors, friends, and family to consider an investment in washbnb. How: You must register on eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.com/e/156569649035As a company building and raising funds in public I recognize that we need to get much better with our update cadence, sharing news, and not falling so behind on email. We’ve put a lot of thought and effort into those strategies and I’m happy to announce that starting next week there will be a lot more sharing, access, and insight coming from inside washbnb. This long overdue update here will help paint the broad strokes of this awesome project and over the next couple of months you’ll see a lot of content that dives deeper into specific areas of high impact.Highlights: TRAVEL IS BACK and we’re seeing the benefits of the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in our area. Our own properties, and those of our customers are busier than ever and prices are at all-time highs. We’re not quite finished with a massive accounting and revenue recognition update but it’s safe to say that May will be our last ever month below $10K in monthly revenue and we’re seeing 3x revenue growth from existing units from May to January. We have been accepted into a tier-1 equity accelerator program! We’re not quite ready to publicize with who yet until due diligence is complete but we’re receiving $120k equity investment and will be participating in the 90-day program this summer! Our crowdfunding campaign page is officially live on Wefunder. We’ve completed all financial and legal due diligence with both Wefunder and the SEC. Invest today! We’ve raised $100K to-date in just a little under a month since listing (not including $120K investment from the accelerator)In conjunction with our crowdfunding campaign going live we’re extremely excited to announce Julie George as our lead investor. More to come on this next week but she’s an extremely talented and successful hospitality professional known as the Million Dollar Host. Julie embodies our values as a company and as hosts ourselves and it’s truly a match made in heaven! On May 17th washbnb.com was completely redesigned (100% in-house) in a beautiful step 1 of our new digital strategy and presence. More to come on this developing story as we get better data and comps but the response has been nothing short of incredible.Q2 (to date) vs. Q1 (90 days of data)Users +259% | Sessions +376% | Pageviews +328%53 hosts have submitted waitlist requests for 526 units since 5/17!!!We signed a deal with Front Desk, top-5 enterprise customer in the burgeoning aparthotel space, making us the exclusive linen/laundry provider for their Milwaukee area units. We’re in the process of onboarding their 50 units here and are already looking ahead to potential expansion sites across their 33 city network! A special update from both companies will be available later in June but for now we’re walking before we run.I appeared on an episode of Slick Talk: The Hospitality Podcast, a top podcast for hospitality professionals. It’s an in-depth dive into my journey as an entrepreneur and the collective journey of washbnb. If you like “How I Built That” by Guy Raz we think you’ll love this episode and the outpouring of support and in-bound it has generate has been remarkable!https://www.slicktalkthepodcast.com//podcast/episode/3b77f51d/created-by-hosts-for-hostsSpeaking of Media, we started working with Abode PR in the UK, a small shop that specializes in short-term rental media. Led by Jessica Gillingham, Abode has taken our story to new heights with amazing press hits listed in the press section below.Lowlights:We’re extremely busy and struggling to keep up with a significant amount of in-bound. It’s taking time to adapt to this new normal and we’re up against significant chicken-egg dilemmas in terms of resources available to allocate to getting more help. Investments and revenue growth are helping to solve those challenges though. We’re saying no to A LOT of potential customers right now, both in our home market and around the world. That’s a hard pill to swallow for us passionate problem solvers who have worked relentlessly to develop Product-Market Fit and see our host community inundated with high-quality guests and besieged by a laundry problem with no great solutions outside of washbnb. Help Wanted/Asks:Share this campaign! Share our crowdfunding campaign page. Can you tell 5 people today about washbnb, what we’re building, and why we’re building it? Feel free to share my direct email daniel@washbnb.com to anyone interested in learning more!Hiring:We have news here but will be sharing separately once we’ve had a chance to tie up loose ends.We have some big plans to tackle the perceived labor shortage that has seemingly crippled many service and manufacturing businesses at the ground floor. This is a real opportunity for us to lead with values and personally one of my passion projects within washbnb is creating a workplace that values humans as assets, rewards them as such, and prioritizes their health and well-being above all else. It’s not just a rosy statement for a website, it’s the best way to run a business built for long-term success.Press: Crowdfunding:Short Term Rentalz Covers our Crowdfunding AnnouncementTravel Daily News coverageFounder:Short Term Rentalz Founder Profile Part 1Short Term Rentalz Founder Profile Part 2Travel/General:Phocus Wire's Startup StageWis Business Covers washbnbgrateful for amazing humans:Julie George: our lead investor for the crowdfunding campaign and all around amazing human. It’s truly an honor to have met her on Clubhouse this year and foster the relationship we have from opposite sides of the world.Spencer Smith: is likewise a digital connection that has become a fast friend, washbnb investor, and now his company Ampliphi is running digital marketing for us. Sticking with the amazing human theme here, it’s just a real treat to be surrounded by people like Spencer who are not only extremely talented but incredibly genuine.Andrew Hanson: one of the first hosts to discover washbnb through Clubhouse and has offered considerable amounts of his time and money to support washbnb. There’s a common theme here with these digital connections turning into amazing partnerships/friendships and Andrew fits the mold. If you’re interested in properties in the beautiful mountains of New Hampshire he’s packaging some listings together HERE https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/11-and-13-Indian-Point-Rd_Croydon_NH_03753_M98199-94717Abode PR: with Jessica Gillingham at the helm and Helen Wedgewood as our account lead has been an incredible agency to work with. From their professionalism and industry expertise to their diligence and willingness to put up with clients like me who are slow to respond and send everything late, they’ve also become fast friends and we’re all very excited to continue to build together.Andrew Fellner: an extraordinary photographer, we were first introduced in the beginning of the pandemic when he picked up an assignment to shoot us for an early press article. We hired him to do some photography work that we could tie-in to our efforts around PR and web/social updates. He just had a beautiful baby in the midst of a lot of work we had going on with him so we’re both thrilled for his family and the ultra high quality work he does.
