Who am II'm Makena Kong - intern turned full-time software engineer at wefunder. I've been working here for about 4 months and its been a good time. I'm also a Cal Poly SLO '20 grad, serial web designer, painter, gecko mom, aspiring sculptor, thrift shopper, I go hard on Halloween, etc.Five words that describe mecreative, blunt (sometimes), calm, logical, weirdWhy I joined WefunderThe "help fix capitalism" tagline really got me - I'm lowkey a socialist? What else - I love the startup life, I've always wanted to work for a non-profit (PBCs are close enough), and I saw a lot of potential for my own and the company's growth.Why I still work at Wefunder ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (just kidding)Not only do I learn something new almost every day, but I seriously enjoy the level of responsibility I've been given. The things I build actually sees the light of day. Also, my coworkers are kind of weird but I like it. Also, they let me start this blog :)What do I like most about codingI love the unlimited possibilities. You want to build a website - sure. You want to make your Roomba play music - go for it. You want to make your car drive itself - do it. Just think of everything we have accomplished this decade and then think of all the things we will accomplish in the next. Also, I secretly really enjoy debugging things. Frontend, Backend, Data, Ops, or all of the aboveFrontend & UI/UX all the way. The rest are alright.My most & least favorite programming languagesi LOVE Javascript. I will only use function expressions with ES6 notation - they are perfect. I don't care about types. Yes, your code can do unexpected things - but who doesn't like a little bit of uncertainty???i HATE C.
